Not necessarily. You can use PayPal

From my understanding the receiver of the payment only sees your name and your email.PayPal is not shielding your ID.
I think a 'burner' account is the solution for me, they can have the minimum of my data.
I’m curious - if someone takes a dislike to my Cmdr (same name as my forum), how would they find the FB account that’s linked to my Oculus? I haven’t any 1337 haxxor knowledge, but I imagine it wouldn’t be exactly easy or legal. Is it something that could happen in the realms of reality?Which can be banned at any time because it's a fake account and fake accounts aren't allowed on facebook. Sure there's a good chance it will work fine for years, but someone takes a dislike to you in game, tracks you down and realises you use a fake facebook account and complains to Facebook, it gets banned and you can no longer use your VR headset. Having hardware tied to online logins is a bad idea!

OT: I’d be very curious if anyone could post their thought if they are moving from a Rift S to the Quest 2 - specifically tracking quality and screen clarity. I tried the first Quest via link during its beta but was put off by the loose tracking performance.
I’ll not worry then about my (possibly not entirely accurate) FB account being banned and losing my Oculus library. You would be surprised at some of the lengths people go to when they develop a dislike for another player in a game. Of course it wouldn't be that easy, and maybe not legal, but the sort of people that SWAT other players and in at least one instance have got someone killed aren't known for following the legal niceties. The easiest way to get that sort of information is of course social engineering. Yes it is something that can happen.

Many thanks - just the sort of comparison I was after. I’ll be happy waiting for something that brings a bit more to the table...probably have to avoid reading CMDRs Reverb G2 experiences from now onI just picked up the Quest 2 this week and have been using the Rift-S since it's launch.
I didn't have an FB account and had to create one for the Q2. I turned all the tracking bollox off/down that I could find, so hopefully it'll just be another one of those pointless things I've had to sign up for in life to get to something else. Linked it to my Oculus account, the only issue I had was, when using Chrome, something within the Chrome's browser settings stopped the Oculus and FB websites communicating and I got an error, switched over to the Edge browser for this bit and it worked fine... odd.
Headset: I brought it mainly for family chuckles/game night (mostly for Christmas) - my wife isn't a gamer, at all, so it'll be fun seeing her reaction. My daughter loves this kinda stuff, so it'll fill it's purpose.
The screen resolution appears to my eyes to be very close to the Rift-S - maybe a tad smidge better. I've tried a couple of the demos on the Q2 and the best part is the no cables, it is so freeing. I do think the crappy speakers are much better than the ones in the Rift-S, so is fine for the purpose I purchased the Q2 for without the need for headphones.
I've also tried the wireless streaming Virtual Desktop from the PC to the Q2 for playing PC only titles, I've not tried ED but have tried HL:Alyx, The Lab etc - its.... okay. It would not replace my Rift-S direct connection. There is some latency over my 5GHz (Virgin Media hub3) connection and the resolution is a downgrade. I had hoped I'd be able to play Alyx and Asgard's Wrath in the living room (with oodles of space) rather than my small cramped home office, but the experience is down enough that I probably will stick with my Rift-S, and certainly for seated (ED, racing etc) games, there would be no point/benefit.
The head strap that comes with the unit is simply awful, I have not managed to get it comfortable yet, I have on backorder an 'Elite' strap, so hopefully that'll make a huge difference. The strap dampens the Q2 experience for me, so hopefully the addon will fix that. (The Rift-S is like putting a cloud on your head in comparison)
If you have a Rift-S, play mostly seated games I would not see any reason to change. But if you like to move around in a Beat Sabre style game, and play it natively on the Q2 rather than stream it, then the Q2 is a great option, but you might need to replace the head strap.

I spent more than an hour today playing half life alyx wireless on the quest 2. It has the occasional stuttering, but being able to play wireless, în the next room, is great.
After tweaking the virgin media hub 3, I got much better results. I got a great deal on a WiFi 6 router so will definitely try it next week and post here to see if it's worth it.
Also a review for ED with quest 2

Yea, that first moment truly is one of the more awe inspiring VR moments I've ever had...
Suddenly, instead of the "fly on the wall viewpoint" of a flat screen I was standing on the hangar floor with a Federal Corvette towering over me... and that massive ship was MINE.... I took her out for a few short spins around the uninhabited system a little way out into the black that my carrier is currently parked in.
... and I really want to find out if there's any way I can make the SRV turret track my head, but that's all just gravy. This is how I'm playing ED from now on![]()

Another thing to do.
Get a docking computer, after getting docking permission, get up from your chair and stand on the bridge.
1:
Feel like uber boss-captain.
2:
Try not to fall over...
bonus if you have va macro to launch the docking process.
This can be a little unnerving, your brain will respond to the motion and try to keep your legs balanced, something that doesn't work cause your actually not in a moving ship.
The incident you refer to had one player telling another a false address which lead to a poor unfortunate innocent being killed. I think any similar occurrence happening relating to Oculus and Facebook, or even the much less serious thing of players losing their accounts, is frankly not going to happen.
The FBI says there are 400 cases of SWATTING annually in the US.
Any Oculus related bannings will no doubt be widely reported in the VR press as well as heavily featured on these forums (especially if, as you suggested, it’s one CMDR taking exception to another), so I suppose we’ll just have to wait and see.I think any similar occurrence happening relating to Oculus and Facebook, or even the much less serious thing of players losing their accounts, is frankly not going to happen.
