Tier 4 reached. 23hrs-ish to finish the job. Which I wouldn't entirely rule out. (And then we'll see if my prediction of one system getting hit anyway checks out...)
I think they have to do something like this - or maybe they pop up somewhere else.

Otherwise we have a situation where Thargoids go from a massive threat to nothing again in a week and that story arc dies.

Nice to see it getting to T4 against all my predictions :)
And i might even get into top 10% on PC, while im not that good on XB, i'll do get a solid top 50% position

I'm beginning to think that Thargoids are too easy. Aren't they supposed to be a threat so terrible that evacuation plans were made to flee the Bubble? The Thargoids need an engineer of their own, so they can counter all our anti-Thargoid weapons.

Make Thargoids Great Again!

It is a problem with the Thargoid storyline - they can be extremely scary, stations and megaships disabled, capital ships and their support fleets wrecked, thousands dead and tens of thousands more in danger - provided they're allowed to do it all off-screen.

They can't be too deadly when there's players about, or the players will just avoid them and it's back to offscreen action again. [1]

So getting a storyline where the players generally win the battles they're present for but this doesn't result in an immediate win to the war is tricky. Very interested to see how Frontier handle it.

[1] And from a metagame perspective, they can't be so dangerous offscreen that they destroy so much of the bubble that a new player can't get their ship up to "dealing with Thargoids" strength any more, though they could still take out about 75% of it before that becomes an issue so I doubt it's going to be a serious problem.

I think the problem is that the game makes "destroy the enemy" the only way to win, so Thargoids must be (easily) destroyable. Wouldn't it be cool if instead there was a "hold the line" objective where you have to "distract" a Thargoid (and survive) for a certain number of minutes while a convoy of ships escape? Think of the evacuation of Hoth in ESB or the evacuation of the fleet from Cylons in BSG. But instead we basically have a fancy 3D version of Space Invaders, where the only game play is "kill as many aliens as you can", and that's a shame IMO. It's also one of the reasons I don't bother much with Thargoids in general.

recon next CG might be Fed based given what's going on there, week after will be tharg attack with CZ's and a rescue one running parallel
Maybe they will be simultaneous after all if there is no link between the stories there is no reason they have to follow in sequence.

I thought that Dorn guy was the Thargoids engineer, they both have a taste for escape pods after all.

How about getting out a Hydra with a Dolphin before claiming goids are easy?

You just want to make it easier for him.
Hydra with a sidewinder should be the real test and the perfect way to close the loop... start in the sidewinder, finish the deadliest foe in the game in the sidewinder

I don't know about anyone else but I half don't want this CG not to fully complete.

There is a good chance it wont be.
There were 6 systems initially in WHN with Ocelus stations.
Only 5 can be protected by this CG... which means that even it's complete, there is still the 6th system

Isn't there someone posting videos of taking out Thargoids with a Hauler?
