I started flying on the 30 th Dec 2014, so just at release. It was a very different Galaxy back then. I got to Dangerous in Apr 2017 and the next month got Elite in Trade and Exploration. Not long after I took a job planet side only flying on rare occasions.
This year I returned to active flight duties. For the most part the changes are great. I joined a Squadron and we did combat once a week. I noticed my Combat rank start to creep upwards. I then did the Lyz Rider CG and hit Deadly. That was it, I was in the zone. Flying a fully engineered Chieftain, I hit a Compromised Nav Beacon where for the past 12 days I have fought for 5 to 6 hrs per day. (Being in Covid lockdown helped). Today I hit Elite completing the triple I started long ago. For all the issues with ED, there is nothing to match it imo.

Congratulations especially since you accomplished it with a combination of PvP and PvE. Unlike Trading and Exploration which are simply about making the right amount of credits. Combat Elite in ED holds with the tradition of all the past Elite games to obtain it. Well done. Go get your Triple Elite decal that can be applied to all your ships. Even an engineered Sidewinder. :)

WELL DONE!

I'm a little behind you - I'm at 25% Deadly and keenly aware that when I reached Deadly about 3 weeks ago I was only half way to my final goal of Triple Elite. While I'm doing other things ATM, I REALLY want that Triple Elite decal to paste on my ships.

You dun great and 'got gud' Commander - great job!
