Setting throttle at 7 seconds is for chumps

If you get in the right spin, it's not hard at all to zip in at 5 seconds.

4 takes a bit more effort, but is doable. I'm working on riding 3. Nearby planets and moons make an optimal approach wildly more complicated, and are a blast.

Is it faster? No idea. Judging off CG trade runs last night though, it's not noticably slower. And it's way more fun and takes a lot more piloting to come in hot like that vs just coasting in, dull as toast, at 7, posting forum-complaints about what's ultimately your own flying style - how it's boring, unengaging and makes you easy prey for interdictions.

Supercruise has far more gameplay around gravity wells than people give it credit for.

Can you hold a three-second spiral in towards a station? Less? Let's see your boasts!

I have 2 approach settings; 7-10 seconds on the timer. And screw it, full throttle followed by blasting past and having to do the loop of shame.

Or my personal favourite, use supercruise assist to approach until timer is at 10-15s then disable, realiese my speed jumps through the roof and watch my target blast past, again for the loop of shame!

As you can tell station and planet approaches are not my strong suit.

I'm relatively comfortable at 6 and after a bit 5 is achievable
I usually go by the distance/speed pips
Are you just doing a straight line, or do you spin?

My approach is basically like riding a whirlpool of gravity all the way in, with tightening spirals as I get closer. The higher the speed, the wider I need to whirlpool to stay on course.

naa without SCA I go straight in and try to miss the gravity pulls
its even more mental with SCA as you can just override it at full speed and then line it up at the last minute, I've gone through stations before hahaha
You should try the whirlpool approach, it's pretty fun. I think with a little more practice (and the right ship) I'll be able to hold a three second approach.

I typically hold full speed and cross my target in a tangent. When time reaches 5 secs I'll reduce speed to hold 5 secs while pulling up towards the target.
I'll still slow to 7 seconds as the target comes into the front windscreen. It's not exciting, but works well for a T9. :)

You gotta do what you gotta do when driving T9's. ;)

The best way is with SC assist. Power through SC assist until the last possible second, then power down and let it take over. It literally never fails.

On longer runs, I can get "space-byway hypnosis", and lose track of the time and have to do the loop, recently I thought, screw it and tried it any way and did it in the 1-2 sec time, no problem have done it several times now. It only seems to work if I am in 'Mm' not 'Ls'.
