I for one am prepared to be VERY underwhelmed by the solution of the riddle.
Still good to see FD is starting these things again. Maybe someday we‘ll get the mysterious things back in patch notes. Good times.

3 Zombie CMDRS came out with a theory

After the messages indicating to the Coalsak Nebula we decided to search around in vain.
However FROM Coalsak, when looking up we found something. 2000ly above and almost in a straight line it lies Lich (an undead creature known for controlling other undead creatures with magic), the creepy pulsar. This pulsar was IRL found by a man (He). Aleksander Wolsczan discovered the spooky pulsar in 1990. A couple of years later, after watching for anomalies on the pulsar, he and Dale Frail confirmed the existence of the first planets outside our solar system.
So He was watching stones, quite literally. In a spooky system where all bodies have supernatural names. Lich, Draugr, Poltergeist, Phobetor. High above the plane as the picture suggested.
What a promising spot for a Halloween event! Even though it is only accessible via Fleet Carrier or jumponium.
Today there wasn't any anomalies there to be found, but many bodies with GEOS. Lets see tomorrow after the update. Its worth a visit anyway.

not really. frontier has cared a lot not to infantilize aliens in the game, deliberately avoiding aspects that are incredibly difficult to depict regarding, well, an alien culture. meaning we have no clue how they communicate, if they would use something like pronouns, something remotely similar to our language or if they even would recognize individual entities as such.
if we somehow suddenly had acquired the capability to decode and translate thargoid messages, and moreover if that was an actual thargoid message, that would be the biggest downer in elite history. that message must be human.
Just a bit of hype. I'm starved for something new.
If this leads to nothing, I'd also take a Panther Clipper instead.
I think they meant the display is similar to our non xeno-scanner display or that we cant decode it from Thargoid so just read it as zeros and ones, which all information is, quite why its in English however...well you may have a point there
