so..
after the video of yesterday's night from earthastronomy i went back
to the ghost ship.

Basically there is an stationary hauler within the range of the ghostship that is continually attacked by pirates
(my ship went attacked and destroyed in ambush while i was pacefully scanning the log of the hauler, lol).
i checked if it's a random event logging off and in, ... no .. it's not random.

someone remember if there was it also before the halloween event ?

Those are normal Mega-ships that have a start system and jump to other systems once a week. You can sometimes tell where a mega-ship is from, by its ID or name.
Scanning the ships log gives you the planned route.
They have multiple scenarios which get called up after some rng amount of time when you are in the instance.
Defend from pirates is one of the scenarios.
You can side with either the Mega-ship or the attacking force.

Shooting the mega-ship and then letting it shoot missiles at you until you have a massive pack chasing you.
Then flying at your wing m8 and making the missiles hit him is great fun !
for you anyway, less so for him :)

No, that didn't happen to me previously.

you can see it better here

Frustratingly, there's actually a typo (an extra space) in the original message. The string should read:

BFGTY4PLU67-RTYO06.45:GN63-74PHGJI E67-:F563-21-574.9ER34.6-DER8+WEST U.5 -RTG10 RTH8-4 6T.WR4564-21 +G134.2 RT55.4 GDW THE42.1LY 764.2Y-45TG4.BTJ-Y. 6ORT437.1D341-67.Y5DS 243 45TY-3234

The 8 signifies the number of characters to line break on, so remove that from the string first and then newline after every 8th character for the full message to be revealed down the right-most column:

There should probably be a sticky thread somewhere in the forums listing the enciphering/encoding approaches Fdev have used in the past, associated glitches, and how to test/overcome them (like the extra space etc). A similar approach to that used in this puzzle was used by Drew Wagar for the salome anniversary puzzle (It was nothing new, but rather a sort of recap/overview) which had a list of keywords and system names related to the salome story if memory serves.

I am kinda disappointed that there was not a secondary encipherment (something more subtle perhaps), and that the 5 brightness levels in the binary images on insta were effectively irrelevant. Since the Adamastor seemed to not be burning for Chuckchan upon leaving the Coalsack Nebula I expected a destination (a secret base somewhere outside of Chuckchan where the goid stuff was to be delivered to.) location to be encoded as well.

All in all this was a fun event to puzzle over. It is great Fdev decided to put the effort to put a fun event into the game that also helps build up the games galcop era lore.

And what’s the betting that the “object” which Prof Carver’s team recovered from the goid shipwreck was actually a thargoid pilot? That would explain the mysterious firefight aboard ADAMASTOR and the fact that she had a hold outfitted with environmental controls-they wanted to keep any captured aliens alive, and seemingly did so. It was emitting across the spectrum when recovered, so apparently still alive and calling to its sisters. Out of The Darkness described how effective they are individually as killing machines.

I originally assumed that the firefight on the ground at geo site 23B was the military force “sanitising” the find, however on rethinking this through I now think they were attacked by a thargoid search & rescue team! Makes more sense when at least 3 of the research team were recovered to ADAMASTOR (Carver’s log about the fsd failure” (i.e. thargoid emp pulse) & subsequent firefight when she left the ship via sidewinder.).

This event/mystery had a purpose- it’s a nice bridge to the Odyssey release when we’ll encounter thargoids face to face carapace!

Moreover the parent organisation already apparently knew of thargoid existence and had a secret base “out towards Barnard’s Loop”; i.e. towards the Pleiades? Carver’s team and samples were to go via ADAMASTOR to that secret base for further research; ADAMASTOR was diverted enroute to that base to collect the team. Wouldn’t be surprised if that base exists in-game for us to find!

Raxxla. The base is on Raxxla. We'll never find it. But yes, it is a nice hint that in Odyssey we may encounter.....THEM.

saw this on reddit :

an outpost in the same system of the jameson's derelict

my question is: there was also before ? i don't remember someone found it at the time we found in the HIP 12009 system the jameson't cobra.
or am i wrong ?

Yes, INRA's 'Stack' is an old one. I myself am not totally convinced though that its location on the planet right next to Jameson's Crash Site is a coincidence.

Is there an LP for the Stack specifically or does it just follow on from previous bases logs?

I assumed one of them was put there to increase chance of finding it due to the other one being nearby, before FSS made it all much easier. Theres no actual trail to the Cobra is there? Pure pot luck whether its found or not so maybe a helping hand.by leading to a planet next door.....dunno if thats how it was found but may have been the intention, just a nudge.

For everything INRA-related: CANONN's entries about everything INRA

It was INRA who sabotaged it in the first place... they wanted him dead in order to cover up that they just made him perform mass murder using a bio-weapon.

Yes, but Stack was close to where he delivered the mycoid payload & his ship was sabotaged. So he would have tried to reach there, instead of getting back to his origin & blasting the saboteurs.

If you read the Jameson Crash Site logs carefully you realize that he had no idea where he was once his ship went dark. So no, I don't think that he tried to reach Stack.

My theory is that in order to make sure the sabotage would be activated after Jameson completed his mission and not before/during the fight it was activated remotely by Stack on his way back to Taylor Keep.

Charades, I'm good at this.

Now Judging by the ship facing the blackhole, aspect ratio of the image in relation to the ship size...comes out to (1-2 divided by 3, carry the 6 is...) roughly....no ship interiors going forward hence the ship going towards the black hole.

The code at the bottom is from private data banks, when scanned reveals two canisters of bromelite by a crashed ASP scout!
Hope this helps!
