If there had been the offer of a full and thorough investigation then you can be sure that bloodshed could have been avoided. Because that's exactly what happened - although after many lives were lost on both sides. Instead, at the start of the incident, the statement from EBM was: "We categorically deny any involvement with the NMLA".
To suggest there was an offer of a proper investigation is pure revisionism.
Also went to the system and made the route noticed by @Amata Lirein. It is extremely suspicious that you can find a crashed ship with thargoid loot at the same planet that a marlinist refuge ship is orbiting.

Anyway, you can find the Thargoid Sensor lying next to it, this second time I went there it was near a cargorack and two crates. One holds a random ore, the other had beer both times. Cheers!

Yes, very - couple of things I've not seen mentioned yet:
- does the ship have a data core (Anacondas often do) and do you get anything for scanning it?
- what's the nav panel description of the site?
It has a datacore, but while you get some sellable data from it you do not get a log.

Sounds like some other permanent POIs were added on Thursday or it is supposed to be connected to the Megaship via the UA, I did wonder what else is out there and whether new things would be found around old nebulas. Some flavour text like this or just 'better' story flavour.....remember we sued to say 'If its in GalNet there should be something there to see' ?, maybe thats all it is, some damn good story backup.
I kind of hope it is a new perma POI and separate though, would strongly imply more of them around.....do any of them drop PIs from the crates?....nah thats going a step too far for sure.

I'm actually surprised that the system has not been overrun by FCs yet. Only 3 carriers in system so far, though one has parked at the moon with the crashed Anaconda, another near the Strength Of Purpose.
