Game Discussions Star Citizen Discussion Thread v12

Today's video - urm, I'm not quite sure what to make of it.

Unplugging a lamp from an electrical fitting doesn't mean that fitting still draws power - as there is no lamp to complete that portion of the circuit.

Doors have not worked correctly in SC since doors were a glint in Genuine Robert's wallet. You don't put doors and lighting on the same circuit.

Lockpicking beams! Alarms! Backup Power Blades! Without understanding that backup power does not come from the broken circuit in the first place. Security chips!

A wild Disco Landrover appears! Irridescent paint and luminous colours! Some radar stuff I missed as I was busy in the fridge.

Refinery decks and rainpoint gas clouds! Actual refining gameplay next week! Homesteads! They are not yet viable assets, and no tuskan raiders on jetbikes nor sandwurmies :(

Shape language! Something else! Composed toybox!

Towns with NPC's with jobs and missions! Player owned outposts!

No game yet - but buy an Idris!

Theyre getting desperate, that Vanduuhl vid with the blue floor and basic background is not something theyd show if they werent panicking, nowhere near polished enough, not even with the one standard attack and the one heavy attack. Theyre desperate to show something, the faithful are closing their wallets slowly but surely.

Or they've run out of things that reliably can be shown not to fall through the floor in less than 5 seconds.

At the moment it's around 4°c...but the winds are north-easterly at 56 knots so figure in the wind chill...it's pretty cold outside. We've been using celcius in the UK since decimalisation in 1971...just the US and a few other countries still use Farenheit :)

We don't get any snow here...at least none that lies for any length of time. We're a fairly small low lying rock surrounded by sea so there isn't anywhere on the island more than a mile from the north sea in any one direction... persistent gale or storm force winds and freezing rain/sleet/hail are the norm in winter. Last year the air and sea temperatures were so unusually cold that the sand on the northern beaches were frozen into ice by freezing sea spray and the tide coming in was all icy sea-slush...pretty weird.

Don’t exaggerate, they’ve also showed gun testing in the same environment in the past.

Thats what I was thinking...."they are getting desperate" or maybe "Chris isnt in the loop anymore". No way the pixel god would ve allowed such a raw unedited unpolished ......thing...to get aired

I'm not sure the tourist board should have taken you on Mole ;)

Wow, surely this is the core of highly fidelitious sanitation engineer third grade gameplay.

Imagine having to choose between a 14B and 14F to unclog a chicken soup nozzle!
Still, it's structured gameplay. Of course you'd need some routines like "user interact with area 3 having spanner_B equipped" and that but that doesn't seem too impossible to do. The physicalisation of screws might give some, but I'd just do away with such nonsense and presto you have a little gameloop template for janitor gameplay.
Not touching the item, inventory and DB implications but that's the job of the object container mashers.

Ha ha "desperate".
They often show rough vid, vid with poor framerate and even vid with bugs. Nothing new here.
Wait for the release of the MSR before talking about slowly closing wallets !

I think the distinction here is that:

A) The Vanduul is being showcased for SQ42. They normally favour glossy cinematic demos for that stuff. (Especially for something as integral to the story as the ominous enemy race.)

B) SQ42 was supposed to have hit beta this quarter... (again...)

Guess they just don't care about spoilers any more eh? ;)

Not really, no. They end up doing that but not for a lack of trying to cut around it and cover it up.
They haven't shown anything this unfinished since before the game was supposed to come out, back in 2014. If this is the shape things are in as we enter year 10 of development, and they can't figure out anything prettier to show off like every other time, they are indeed unquestionably desperate.

I don't think there's panic to deduce from that. Showcasing features progress in test maps (blue floor is actually the navmesh used by the AI) is what should be showcased by CIG, not their usual hacked together false prescripted gameplays. Even with ships... Their workflows are basically like any "debug in prod" clunky workflow.

Actually, as feather-weight as it looks, I for one see "more" concrete here than in their recent SQ42 udpate farce.

Though what you can deduce is that Captain Zealoh never played through all SQ42 levels if they're only showcasing now rudimentary combat.

Perhaps CR woke up one morning after the Zealoh test session thinking it would be nice to have close combat in SQ42.
My thought is that the version played by Zealoh was not good enough for CR and that he forced his teams to redo entire levels and add gameplays not initially planned.
