Horizons Router Plotter fail for the win!

Your Route Plotter just dumped me into a system with four Tauri stars on an empty tank.

Apparently, if you flick over to "PowerPlay", it ignores your settings in "Map".

Thanks for nothing!

If humankind went to the stars with FDev's tools, they would die.

Odd, if you were plotted to jump to refueling stars KGBFOAM - how did you run out? Did you skip re-fueling at the previous 3-8 jumps?

You can always call the fuel rats

If you change the Galaxy Map from Star Class to something else and use other criteria for plotting it will use the new criteria.

If certain humans went to the stars they would die.

That was the plan with Golgafrinchan Ark Fleet Ship B.... unfortunately they made it to Earth and that is how we have humanity today.

Its true, i saw a documentary about it once.

Also, you changed the map filter, you chose to let your fuel get low, its your mistake.

Now, consider it a lesson learned and call the fuel rats to save you.

Sigh, user misunderstands how map works, blames game.

Anyway - map options are not cumulative - you choose realistic OR filtered OR powerplay. You will also find the filter options are not cumulative - you'll get the hang of it - everyone else does :)

OP - assuming that you're still in the bubble doing Power Play, I could probably move my Fleet Carrier so you could re-fuel.

Send me a PM if that helps.

To even get a Pilots Federation license, you are supposed to be the best of the best
No, no. They give a licence to anyone who will pay the fee (buy the game).

Niether "Realistic" nor "Powerplay" have any options for route filtering; only "Map" does.
Therefore niether "Realistic" nor "Powerplay" should affect router filtering.
Logic; FDev should try it.

If you have mats for a Polonium you can jump to a nearby star with a nearly empty fuel tank, just make sure it's a scoopable one.

There's no doubt that the map has room for improvement - but that still doesn't explain how you ran out.

Every ship I own can jump at least 4 times minimum before the tank is too low to jump again.

If you thought that you were supposed to be only jumping to stars that you could re-fuel from, how could you not notice that the previous jumps before you ran out weren't allowing you to fill up?

It's easy to blame FD - but I don't by that it's entirely FD's fault here.

What am I missing?

In order to (absolutely) maximise jump distance, I run smallest Fuel Tank for the FSD's Max Fuel Per Jump; I have to fuel scoop after every (longest range) jump.

Also, Fun Fact, if you Plot Route from Internal Panel > Engineers > select an engineer > View On Galaxy Map, the route planner does not use the route plot filter settings from Map.

Also-also, and further to Max Fuel Per Jump, there is no way to know how much fuel you are actually carrying at any given time. You can only find out if you have enough fuel for a jump when you select the star system you want to jump to, by which time it may be too late.

......

You know the size of your tank, you can see the graph - estimate. If you need to know precisely then as @Ashnak says it is reported accurately in the journal files - so use EDDiscovery or something to see how much fuel is in the tank.

BTW - why would it be "too late" - you are running a ship on fumes, if you don't have the fuel, go scoop - if you are in a non-scoopable star's system then you have only yourself to blame.

Seriously, you are making whole mountain ranges over little worm casts.

If you look at your fuel gauge with a jump selected it shows how much fuel that jump will use if that is nearly half of your remaining fuel it is time to seriously consider switching to economical jump plotting which will let you get much further before you need to call the Fuel Rats for help.

Also there are some systems where the main "star" is a white dwarf and a 2nd smaller star is a M class red dwarf.
This system is also a valid target if you explicit filter for KGBFOAM.

So you fly a totally min-maxed build without looking where you jump?

👈 Ha Ha!

I'm not sure FDs tools are at fault here...
