FDev: Credit rebalancing incoming, "more reward for higher risk" activities

I'm not sure about relating payouts to risk. The way I do PvE combat I haven't lost a ship in over a year (big ship with A shields, SCBs, turrets, SLF), so if they buff payouts because of supposed risk it will just be free money for me.

National shortage of Toffee Crisp multipacks.

Its what caused Max to go Mad.

Its because FD never imposed anything onto players, rather locking it behind POIs (which even then are mostly easy). General A to B PvE is so easy its untrue, mainly because the C+P is broken by engineering.

What FD could do is put in super hard missions above wing missions now, CZ captain level roaming NPCs that have full fat G5 ultra spanking engineering and give us proper payouts. This would require Thargs, CZs being adjusted upwards slightly too, but would give veterans a means to make combat pay without upsetting too much.

Yes, I'd like high-paying hard combat activities. I hope they do that instead of just multiplying-up all the mission payouts.

Would be nice if the prospector limpet when it shows surface or subsurface items had this reflected in the overall summary of the asteroids. e.g. It is very immersive breaking to find Void Opals on the surface yet the asteroid has 40% water content and 0% Void opals.

And after the balancing, let the Thargoids wreck the bubble and the banking system so that all the untold billions get wiped out along with the carriers. :)
Do you have a Carrier to lose?
Maybe he has, but has untold billions banked so could buy another fleet of them...

Oh... the banking system got wiped out by Thargoids...

I do have one, but it doesn't live in the bubble much, so as long as we have a day's notice it'll be in Colonia before the bubble burns... 👍

I think, they should make the Highest level NPCs use PvP build ships. Things like HAZ RES should be extremely dangerous for even the best pilots.
The lower grade RES, CZs, Missions, etc should have a much larger difference in NPC ship and skill. Which progressively increase the NPCs ships and Skill, per Level of RES, etc.
So that a new player can attempt the lowest level RES, but doing a HAZ RES run, should require a wing of experienced pilots in top grade combat build ships.
Once the Levels of NPC ships and skill is balanced, then base the rewards around that.

Before Engineers going into a HAZ RES had a risk of loosing your ship, that needs to be a thing again.
Well thats what I think anyway.

I hope so too. They can start by changing the wing assassin missions back to the old mixed group, but make the 'flock' have low level engineering too and vary it. Having three Vultures spamming phasing is a bit boring- not to mention the pay is very low for the risk.

I doubt they can manage. They already unleash bulletsponges on unengineered commanders. Either there is a technical problem implementing some sort of difficulty choice or they are totally oblivious to such design. I mean you could tie it to e.g. anarchies - not everywhere so you don't lock out peasant players like me - and job well done, imo.

Conversely, the way I do PvE combat I have lost several ships in the past year - so am guilty of creating risk rather than completely negating it...

Serious question: Do you have a lot of fun in combat with NPC's in a ship they cannot compromise?
I ask solely as my ships are engineered to be 'just good enough' and I have to leave 'with tail between legs' encounters that get a little 'spicey' - but have a massive amount of fun in the mean time.

I love you guys :)

Fdev: We're going to be looking at balance
Forums: Right .. here is a list of all the code we want changed - this is all ESSENTIAL!
Fdev: .... but we were only planning on changing a couple of numbers ... :(
This downtime is obviously the implementation of the ship texture updates I read about.
I mean, Paul Crowther already confirmed all 300 developers are looking into this.
300 developers is far too much for a mere launcher bug. So new graphics confirmed.
Also I'm sure Odyssey will get an early release and I finally get my Panther Clipper.

I stopped playing when my brother mentioned we already had enough money from a few cargo runs to retire in luxury for the rest of our lives. The laughable lack of any kind of realism in this game, across the board, made a mockery of sense of achievement or satisfaction in just about anything. He'd made a billion from mining in a little over a week after I'd bought him the game. Lol.

Soon as I've upgraded my card I'll give SC a proper go. I have it already but it's a bit janky at 3440x1440 with a 1080Ti.
