IMO The mission cap is definitely out of date.

Also some of the mining missions also make no sense now either.

eg. There is a mission to mine 25 (insert Commodity here) for a reward of 2,000,000 million credits, but you can sell (Same commodity) in the market for 5,000,000 credits. What do you do, Sell or do the mission?

I'm not sure I understand the OP...
50 ly range is nothing, you can easily find gold very cheap (about 5k per t), so ~5 mil for the cargo
