Game Discussions Star Citizen Discussion Thread v12

There is a bug in this video but also a very cool race with a lot of fun for all drivers. And the bug was triggered by an action you simply can't do in a lot of space games.

Call me when you can do a stairway made of ships for cars to be driven over, and then eventually shoot them to low orbit by boosting away.

Laughable, everything about this whole situation is laughable.

Sorry, hard to give some specific tone when not in your primary language.

AA is really focused on bugs. He didn't realise that he was posting a video about a bug but also a cool video with lot of fun in it. And he tries also to mock something he seems to have no clue about (mining laser). A very focused analysis indeed 😁

So, you think that gentle bump warranted that explosion? Interesting. Reminds me of this.

You also think the janky laser is acceptable for the BDSSE? Did you not notice how it literally skips between different angles rather than smoothly transitioning?

As for the flight model... well, of course, that's a matter of subjective preference, but that in my opinion looks like someone just moving an object around in an asset viewer by moving xyz rather than actual flight.

PS: You can bump SRVs in ED to turn them over and neither will explode if you are careful ;)

A Wholesome Story

"Star Citizen is revolutionary, XYZ has never been done before!"
"Games A, B, and C, already do that that."
"Oh, I didn't know about those."
"Then why did you say 'Star Citizen is revolutionary, XYZ has never been done before'?"
"Sorry, it's because I'm a naïve fool just parroting other idiots. I haven't played many games."
"Huh, really?"
"Yeah. I'm sunk emotionally and financially in Star Citizen. I feel I need to protect it."
"Yikes dude, it's just a game project. Have fun instead."
"Please can you help me - what games should I try?"
"Sure thing fellow gamer, let's play some fun released games together! We can start with Game A."
It's physically impossible for an SC cultist to swallow their pride.

You used to be able to do it in Star Citizen too at one time...I've flipped many ships right way up after landing mishaps etc, last case I was in a Caterpillar flipping a Cutlass Black after he went turtle.

In my world space ships can never yaw and helicopters dont exist.

Its the old debate, does realistic flight make for a good flight model?

I think its pretty much accepted that if ED had released with the Frontier or (original) Elite flight model, there would have been a lot more gnashing and wailing of teeth.

But here's the rub. Because CIG (and backers) proudly proclaim realistic flight model affected by atmospheres, and i had one backer not long explain to me how the atmosphere really affected the ships based on their profiles. And i accepted it. I had nothing i could say otherwise and the evidence they presented was compelling. And then i see a video like this, which shows nothing of the sort. Then i wonder, who is lying to me. It can't be the actual gameplay video that i'm watching... no way was that anything scripted or prepared by CIG. So it must be the people telling me CIG have a flight model that is realistically modelled and affected by atmosphere.

If it was in space, hey, fair enough. But it wasn't.

Uh, what the arrow was doing was so benign in terms of yaw, you could recreate it in elite.

Flight is dramatically affected by flying in atmosphere. In that video the ship is barely moving. No idea how you are taking that as representative of what atmospheric flight is like now. And really, the effects are something you are gonna be able to get from a video. This would be something you'd have to experience for yourself in game.

Quite possibly. But considering i can only go off videos, and it looks like he is just sliding to the right without any external force impacting on him, that's what i'm going off. Unfortunately SC contains way too many fidels for my poor computer that can happily play just about any other game without problem.

CP2077 out soon though, maybe that will give my comp a run for its money. I have been dropping hints to my family that crimbo is a good time to upgrade though ;)

At 10 m/s you dont notice anything. Different story at 200 m/s

It is a great time to do a computer build/upgrade. If you can find the stuff in stock.
