Newcomer / Intro What are you up to?

Welcome, albeit a late one! I still fly my Sidewinder (‘Election Fever’ - use it for poll data missions during elections), but also spend a lot of time in an Asp Scout, fun all rounder. The Keelback gives you early access to a fighter, too, so can be a fun Explorer/mission runner. Do ask in here - between the helpful crew most things have been attempted.
I fly without music, too. Just like the in-game sound effects. No music at all!Not that anyone cares, but I turn all music off in all games. I hate it, doesn't matter what it sounds like, I just hate having music playing.

Night mode reduces the dynamic range of the audio - so the more subtle sounds are less drowned out by the louder ones - it does this by raising the level of the quieter sounds, not by reducing the level of the louder ones*. I use a speaker system and if I am playing at night I use night mode with my audio system level turned down - but if I am playing very late (and early hours) I stick on my cans and then enable the DTS-Headphone:X - but turn off night mode and use "normal".
* After playing at night I often forget to change from Night Mode so on next starting the game with my usual audio system volume control the game audio is noticeably loud.
(Actually, for normal use I have the Full Range option selected - I find that better but it obviously depends on your setup.)

Called in at the Coalsack CG, flogged some data, picked up the uber scanner. Travelled over to the latest CG and... Nah, don't fancy it. Jumped to nearest hi-tech system, traded in the AspX for a DBX, that's more like it! No engineering, averages 38Ly runs super-cool.*

The DBx...
I know a lot of CMDRs have a soft spot for it but I just can't get on with it. The scoop is one reason and the other, coincidentally as we're talking about in-game sound, is its engine noise.
I've also almost stopped using the AspX despite it having a unique paint job. I just find the Phantom does everything a little bit better.
What do do later... hmm... messing around with the sound is one thing... I know! I think I'll take "Screaming Dr Berserk" out to practice FAoff.

back to game : piracy threats are getting very common in Eurybia system (threat level 7's) usually. so is that all engineered ships in there now! dont think i take the stock ship of FDL quite yet. lol
need to get some more IRON< and a couple more i can't pronounce.has most of the missions i have set do have some materials.Also if i started doing missions for the lower minor faction will this kill of some piracy instances. lower one's are at 10% controlling faction are at 39%

It does seem the US version of currency is the most common these days. Even where I used to work, 1bn was 1,000,000,000 (or a "yard" to use the vernacular).
As for iron and other materials, try find a geo site on a volcanic planet.
I'm in the UK and I was always taught at school (years ago now) that each time the number goes up by a factor of 1000, it called something different.
1000 one thousand
1,000,000 one million
1,000,000,000 one billion
1,000,000,000,000 one trillion
etc...
Well I obviously went to school in Britain before you - a billion was a million million - a thousand million was called a milliard but mainly they used "so many thousand-million". A trillion was 1,000,000,000,000,000,000.
Think yourself lucky that we didn't have to use crore (100 lakh), arabs and nils (and where one thousand is 10,000). (A friend in secondary school was a recent immigrant from India and I thought he was joking when he told me about their numbers.)
I forgive USA for forcing us to use the short billion (and trillion) but I cannot forgive the slaughter of so many innocent "u"s and the person that came up with "nite" should be exhumed and their remains mocked for all eternity.

Night mode sound is pretty good! Going to keep that turned on with DTSHeadphone:X enabled. I aslo have "Windows Sonic for Headphones" started... hmm.

Carriers are appearing in all sorts of places you'd not expect them. For no apparent reason. I suppose they need to park somwhere. In the meantime, I'm wanted. Shouldn't have blown up those skimmers. Where's the IF?
