What, getting it or giving it away?
It is a good game. I loved the 'on foot' exploration of planets and caves, plus all the different plants and animals and the base building too, but there was too much of it that just didn't sit well with me.

How did you get on with all the Guardian unlocks then?
I watched one non FDev video to study how to play back when I started and a couple since then just to look at them.

The guardian unlock I did was done by looking at a map drawn of the site and reading stuff in various places.

Reading stuff and just trying it in game is how I have done most things in Elite.

Hello everyone,
Just saying hi as I joined this forum. I've recently re-discovered ED after 35 years. I used to play the original Elite on a Commodore Amiga 500 back in 1985, and was utterly addicted to the game. I actually thought the game had ceased to exist years ago (I'm not really into following game news in general) and so big was my surprise when I decided to invest in a new Xbox series S (after not having owned any gaming device for many years) to find ED in a spectacular new incarnation ! :) I bought the game right away and am currenly finding my way around in it, whilst having fun. Some of the basic aspects of the game seem to have become a bit easier than in the original, like docking for example or blowing up pirates. But the host of new functionalities is quite overwhelming so I'm not quite sure where or how to start. I'm also a "lazy" gamer so I don't go looking through all kinds of videos and manuals and forums to know exactly which button to press or parameter to tweak in order to get what I want. So if any of you have any tips on how to start out the "easy" way in ED I'm all ears :)

without videos or any spoilers. I found a guardian system ingame by using the map filters (which was a bit cheesy, I admit), scanned it, found the guardian installation, landed and explored. Took me a while to find out how to light the beacons, but the rest went quite well, and I had a blast doing it. Even managed to figure out the relic at the end. Best of all, it meant I already had all the stuff I needed to unlock a module, no need for relogging shenanigans!

I haven't unlocked everything, but most of them now, whenever someone wants to head out there I'll keep them company, support but won't spoiler unless asked for hints, and no one complained that it was boring. Just following step by step instructions makes everything grindy. Why play the game when I skip all the riddles and content?

Exactly!! Run for office and I'll vote for you!!

I try first. And second. Sometimes though - and my first and only Guardian site action was a prime example - I finf things a little too much and resort to spoilers - I just didn't get it. That doesn't make it right, of course, bur I hate gaming when it starts to feel like work. I know: I'm lazy.

Welcome back to the great family of the Elite ! Cmdr.

I can imagine your surprise and joy when you found out that Elite was not dead.

Many of us have had the same feeling.

To move forward in the game, take your time. You will be busy for the next 35 years. :D

Fly safe. :)
