Game Discussions Star Citizen Discussion Thread v12

FDev basically wrapped up the year last week (for ED), allowing an easier slide into the holiday break. After a whole year of having this roadmap as a "priority", why push it out now?

So... by definition, quite literally a pyramid scheme now?

um, no.

a form of investment (illegal in the US and elsewhere) in which each paying participant recruits two further participants, with returns being given to early participants using money contributed by later ones.

its not like captian richard is pulling money out based on who he has recruited.

The referral scheme though definitely comes off like one. Never been a fan of those as it encourages people to be less than honest about the game they recruiting for. And make no mistake, it is literal recruiting.

In Captain Richard's case, nah, that's just people enjoying his content (no idea why, but hey, their choice).

Regardless, he's spent 50k on a spaceship game and happy about it.... so... erm.... carry on!

All kidding aside Congrats Cap. You inspired me to get back into gaming. I built my own PC to play Star Citizen and now only a year later I am a high admiral. Thanks for all you do o7.

Seriously... its like a drug for some people.

Strange, because that definition fits almost perfectly. The earlier participant benefiting from the contributions of later ones.

Note that I qualified my original accusation with a question mark, in the true spirit of CIG-like confusion and obfuscation. :p

Well, i guess sorta with the referral ships.

are a new kind of independent studio dedicated to delivering AAA games outside the established publisher system

Dear gods, i hope no other game dev does the same. The last thing we need are more developers raking in cash from the public and making non-stop excuses for failing to deliver on their promises.
