Game Discussions Star Citizen Discussion Thread v12

I don't know, the embarrassing thing is many other games have sorted this out first (I think Dual Universe had tests with hundreds of players all at once).

I was thinking how other games (e.g. Infinity: Battlescape) implemented this - even though I've not played this game, it does look awesome.

Volunteer Regression: link / edited for brevity

So the volunteer's are regressing? What is going on?!

They often have threads where players note the many old bugs that have resurfaced. IE 'regressed'.

These then get entirely omitted from the tiny list of 'Known Issues' added to the next patch notes ;)

I hope Spheres of Combat is not something like Theatre of War. ToW should just be a shooting park to test weapons/vehicles, it's not a real part of the PU.
I think I can also do this, let me try:

I hope Theaters of War is not something like a multiyear delayed waste of dev time and resources used as an attempt to divert attention from the actual lack of progress. Dev time and resources should just be dedicated to deliver a game that was originally estimated for 2014 and paid to the tune of 350 $ millions, not for parts of the game that are not real.

To be fair, what would be pretty funny is if the EDO 'CQC' mode that's been mentioned turns out to be a Rush style Battlefield mode ;)

That would be very testing...

The combined arms / sphere of combat mentioned for Elite is not a game mode like ToW, is just a way to explain that all kinds of vehicles and on foot activity can happen simultaneously in the same instance.

Now the kind of places where this can happen is essentially anywhere where there are players. With regards to PvE in particular there will be 3 main focal points for it: Settlements, POI and Conflict Zones (similar to the existing ship based ones but presumably on planetary surfaces). It is also linked to progress of the BGS.

Yep for sure. But the 'CQC style thing' they've mentioned is a separate game mode. I'm just saying it'd be funny if EDO managed to have both a 'PU style' form of 'full spectrum' combat and a competitive PvP game mode variant as well. (With the punchline being that they worked ;))

It'll probably just turn out to be a mainly-functioning Star Marine instead though ;)

The size of the world is ED's disadvantage when it comes to matching up players. Be it distance, tavel time, visibility. It just works better in more limited environment.
