Game Discussions Star Citizen Discussion Thread v12

No, it is not for "completion", which would mean players could visit the system in game. The roadmap actually says "Completing the initial foundational work needed to implement the Pyro System into the game." It's foundational work.

Previously you estimated CIG could work at a rate of:
So why is this task 13 weeks?

That's just work on missions, not planets.

The amount of discussions i've had with backers who think CIG will miracously one day be able to pump out a new system every few weeks is too damn high.

And yet, again and again, CIG show they are not capable of doing even a system a year.

CI¬G never were all that careful with the truth… or with doing maths. But this is getting silly.

From SA, regarding the fix to the canopy opening/closing issue. Imagine trying to get thousands of players playing together.
I, uh... so does it just randomly pick a ship to perform those actions on when you try and do it? Was anyone even trying to perform those actions on any ship to trigger this, or was it just casually sometimes changing the state of a ship whenever it gets visibility of it? 😵

Re. 2020 not 2019, I'm guessing that's referring to their FY2019 which might well have ended at the end of March 2020... three days after the extra investment was announced. Timing entirely coincidental I'm sure. 😄

The most significant thing I took away from the whole financial report is that it does not include the Directors remuneration. That is, exactly how much money is going directly into the Roberts Clan coffers. We know from the UK financial reports, which are required by law to make this information public, that the Roberts Clan is taking about 2% of “sales” as their cut. This rises to about 10% when you include their “shares” of the company which were sold as part in the Calders deal. I can’t help but wonder how much they’re getting paid from the dozens of shell companies that make up this Hollywood accounting scheme...

Color me surpised, but CIG had to hire a new guy just to make their sorry excuse for roadmap. It's either literally no one of current employees was even a tiny bit capable, or they just prepared a scapegoat. If it's the second, poor guy will be blamed for inconsistency between documented lie and reality somewhere in the next autumn.

Why, it's right here, I marked it on the last column:

Because obviously other dev costs are named "other dev costs". And don't forget, this Liner is the most transparent company in the top 1% of all Liners out there!

What? The guy is new to CIG and the first project he was tasked with was making the roadmap?

This is who they decided to give this highly visible and high priority task to? A newbie to the company (even if he has years of experience outside it).

It takes months to integrate into a new postion/company and gain some comprehension of what is going on and who does what. And yet they gave someone new the task of understanding what the teams were doing. Sure, they can get a view from Jira, but that doesn't relate the reality of what goes on or who is doing what.

This new roadmap is going to be borked from the start.

Hey there! I've posted this on SA today, but Jake there was actually a part of INN/Relay for many, many years. If you don't know who they are, they used to be huge in the Star Citizen scene back in 2016 and 2017, but faded away due to a whole lot of internal fighting. You can read up on that here, if you are so inclined.

When I realized who Jake was and who he used to work for, it reminded me that there was some small controversy awhile back about someone at INN/Relay putting together the official patch notes for CIG. Turns out Tyler's first big community report was mirrored on a WordPress website. Metadata from several pictures there pointed to someone at INN composing those notes before they were posted 2 days later, on April 8th.

Anyway, glad he's finally getting paid proper for doing the company's work for them.

And as a bonus:

Prediction:
subscription benefits (as told in leaks months and months ago) to increase "on a massive scale"

Horses mouth:
We also kept improving our subscription programs in 2020, evolving them further away from the old model of supplying video shows and delivering more tangible in-game benefits. This year, subscribers of both subscription tiers received complementary in-game flair including weapons like the Ultiflex Combat Knives and new electron-powered pistol and sniper rifle; cold weather outerwear; utility items like the QuikFlarePro glow sticks and Greycat Pyro Multi-tool; combat gear like the Overlord and Paladin helmets, and various Overlord armor suits; and fun items like faithfully reproduced Second Tevarin War uniforms and Wowblast toy pistols that fired foam projectiles. Subscribers also got to enjoy monthly free flies of some of our most popular newly flyable ships, including the Cutlass Red, Cutlass Blue, Carrack, ARGO MOLE, Sabre, Avenger Titan, Esperia Prowler, and the M50; not to mention a perk new to 2020 of subscriber-exclusive cross-chassis upgrades. The amazing new flair and sub perks were a real hit with players this year, and led to our best year of active subscribers yet.

Also, you know this has been prepared by the most seasoned professionals when you see such strict accounting terms as "Net pledges and income".

And... merry Christmas everyone from Aus! :)

Remember : we're talking about a narrative. Not an actual roadmap.

Yup - Merry Chrimble Everyone!

Sadly I couldn't get the right ingredients for clootie dumplings so Mrs Asp will have to settle for single malt tablet after stovies* for dinner tomorrow. It'll take all night to cool and settle properly, so of course to avoid any potential safety hazard I'll dispose of the rest of the single malt in an environmentally responsible manner.

Whatever happened to Star Citizen's exclusive 'verse whisky?

* a very simple and mundane dish - but that's what was asked for :D
