Are you?? I did the same twice, nothing changed.I validated my game files via the launcher and I'm back in the black. Take care and Elite!
If you can get to the main menu in game check the networking options and make sure the correct adaptor is being used for the game.
If you cannot get to the main menu, use 'log out machine' from the launcher option to force it to create a new authentication token.
If neither works Frontier support is your only option.
may I ask you if you are on Steam/region?Just got this one.
Game freezed to death, 2nd time today, both times being lazering Aliance Chieftan heavy, like 5 beams on it.
So I had to kill process.
2nd time now I get same error - 404/session.
Then couple restarts - and it works again.

Do you run game on really low-end PC, how long does it take from starting game in launcher to main menu?
Do you have any game crashes while the game starts(you'd see crash report window)?
I'd suggest opening support case, if you have any progress please post as this might help others.
For troubleshooting enable network log in network settings, check netLog* files in Products\elite-dangerous-64\Logs directory that contain network communication logs to see if there's anything obviously wrong.
In my case I suspect this is caused by long time it takes for game to start(really low-end PC not meeting game requirements) resulting in network timeout.

I have Seen some players that have monsters PCs have the same problem, thank you all for your replys.Of course I will. Damn frustrating.
I tried everything you said so far, except vpn and reinstall which I dont think would fix it.
Yes I know my gear is definitely low-end for this. However can't explain why it happened so suddenly.
It has always taken minutes to load the main menu, also displaying the error report splash screen in win, but it never stopped the game loading. Never had troubles in game as well.
Don't know. However saw same issue tickets from people with very good gear as well.
