depending whats causing this you could try launching the old Elite dangerous, the one without :Horrizons tagged on the end, should be second from the top of the list. sometimes this resolves issues

only other thing you could try your self would be rebooting your modem\router assuming you have access to it

try enabling network logging from the main menu select options > Networking > next to Logging it probably says off > click the orange OFF it should change to ON. relaunch the game close the game after you get the error.

the log might give you a clue as to whats happening if you can understand it, but support will likely require you to send a copy
the Networking section should tell you where the logs can be found but the location should be similar to
...\steamapps\common\EliteDangerous\Products\elite-dangerous-64\Logs
remember to turn off logging when your finished, those log files can get pretty big

if none of those work youll need support as suggested by Codger
 
I'm also having this same issue. And I can launch the Older version and it works no issues. so its super confusing. I mean other than reading the log and seeing whats happening.. epic sends token fronteer gets it.. then LOSES IT. so get your stuff togather fronteer.

I have no steam / epic store.
I have only frontierstore - where i bought Odyssey
After this Horizons stop working
Old Elite working fine

i try everything
restarting router, reinstaling, loging to another account ( it didn't help either ?!?!.... confusing )
U can't generate LOGs when the game thinks the servers are offline

True, super confising / iritating.
I sent the ticket to the Frontier and waiting for a reply...

What is going on?

I'm stuck with exact same issue and have ticket opened with Frontier support with no progress.
I can successfully log in to game using same account from different PC. This issue happens for two different ED accounts and seems to be related to corrupted state on the ED server side.


If possible could you please share specs of your PC, specifically GPU/mem/cpu?

I validated my game files via the launcher and I'm back in the black. Take care and Elite!
 
If you can get to the main menu in game check the networking options and make sure the correct adaptor is being used for the game.
If you cannot get to the main menu, use 'log out machine' from the launcher option to force it to create a new authentication token.

If neither works Frontier support is your only option.

Bah. Already voted and subscribed an existing (and confirmed) ticket but I am afraid it is gonna take ages.
 
Just got this one.
Game freezed to death, 2nd time today, both times being lazering Aliance Chieftan heavy, like 5 beams on it.
So I had to kill process.
2nd time now I get same error - 404/session.

Then couple restarts - and it works again.

Don't know what to do next. Maybe unistall and install again the whole game?
 
hi, i have the same problem, don't remember for how long now, but its quite frustrating, i got the game from epic games launcher, it was working fine until frontier sever couldn't restore my user session, base game is working , only horizons gives this problem, i tried every thing...lig in and out, reinstall, alter game files, port forwarding, changed the whole wifi settings for but nothing and tried using VPN, still nothing, i tried verifying files from epic games and launcher both, still nothing. please if some have an idea or a work around; tell me, thanks
 
Do you run game on really low-end PC, how long does it take from starting game in launcher to main menu?
Do you have any game crashes while the game starts(you'd see crash report window)?

I'd suggest opening support case, if you have any progress please post as this might help others.

For troubleshooting enable network log in network settings, check netLog* files in Products\elite-dangerous-64\Logs directory that contain network communication logs to see if there's anything obviously wrong.

In my case I suspect this is caused by long time it takes for game to start(really low-end PC not meeting game requirements) resulting in network timeout.

Do you run game on really low-end PC, how long does it take from starting game in launcher to main menu?
Do you have any game crashes while the game starts(you'd see crash report window)?

Yes I know my gear is definitely low-end for this. However can't explain why it happened so suddenly.

It has always taken minutes to load the main menu, also displaying the error report splash screen in win, but it never stopped the game loading. Never had troubles in game as well.

Don't know. However saw same issue tickets from people with very good gear as well.

I have Seen some players that have monsters PCs have the same problem, thank you all for your replys.
 
I have the same issue. Horizons worked just fine for years and now it will not load. The basic elite dangerous game works but I cannot land on planets because that was not part of the original game. I have tried everything, I’ve uninstalled steam and elite . After reinstalling the same problem came back. I’m not even sure if it is a steam issue or frontier issue. Issue tracking is very confusing to me. I would appreciate any help.
