For the record, i don't think badly of obsidian ant, and please be nice because he sounds like he means well. If anything, i was impressed that someone was brave enough to make a social media content officially saying what many of us are thinking (at the risk of white knight bashing and being taken off the $500 marketing bribes list). He got a "like" from me for that.

I can't speak for anyone else but for me its as clear as you describe it. Do you honestly think frontier are going to melt in a puddle, start crying, and then.. do what to the odysee release?

Its just instinct to check fibs or possible fibs. In my department there's no polite ignorance and complaining at the ash tray. Be honest is best.

Only tricky part might be .... those console dev kits and cross-compiling for them ... which might explain why the console versions are more delayed?

MS set up cloud-based dev kits for Xbox months ago, to help developers out during this work from home era. I'm not sure if that functionality is just for Xbox 1st party, or if 3rd party devs like Frontier can use that.

To that one would say everyone has a right to their view. If frontier was professional about it at the very least the next meeting arthur is involved in he has the scope of honest viewpoints to report back to the managers / developers.

Obsidian Ant is a shill and I heard from a guy who knows this girl who heard from a kid that he saw him pass out at 31 flavours last week.

Most companies didn't have the technical infrastructure to support their entire staff working remotely, and many still don't.
You can't magically go from a central code repo with 0 VPN infra to magically having everybody working from home like no big deal in a day, week or even a month.
Buying things takes time, building systems takes time, FDev like many companies probably didn't want to spend the money for the "two weeks to flatten the curve" to build the infrastructure for a fully remote workforce.
Second lockdown happened and they probably only had a certain capacity, staff quitting / laid off / sick or the like. This is really the norm for most companies, even technology companies.

A business is designed to run at the lowest possible cost with the highest revenue, you don't invest in 5000 VPN licenses when I less you're a fully remote company and having to source that during a pandemic isn't easy.

Anecdotal evidence but we deployed within a week where I work. Kind of janky configuration management, though.

I too would prefer to be buried in playing the alpha today, rather than waiting an indeterminate length of time to do so, but also would prefer to not having had 9 months or so of having my own routines disrupted by a Pandemic that forced those changes. Frontier have been forced to delay the release of the Odyssey DLC as a result of the effects of the Pandemic on their organisation, do you consider they are lying to us?

Hehe, same here. Before first lockdown we had around 10-15% of users working remotely. When first lockdown hit us we flipped everything and we have 85%+ users working from home/remotely. It took us few weeks - we are 22k+ employee business...

There's evidence that console ports were strongly correlated with graphical downgrades in the pc version of elite.

Sorry, I'm not going to click the video for it, it should be available elsewhere too.
At least, I assume that this was posted for Odyssey specifically. If it's just the old myth that graphics were downgraded because of consoles (while the minimum requirements for PC remained well below console hardware, but heyo), then disregard my question.

If you were running a business, wouldn't you be interesting in knowing that? Imagine if frontier didn't know a percentage of people were thinking that. Im not sure how valid it is to just do random things an expect universal adoration with no correlation or consequences of what you actually did. You'll turn frontier into dudley dursley. "I only sold 1 million copies, but last year last year i sold 3. I don't care that i released carriers and the system map is lol".

My personal opinion is the opposite of yours, ill wait until whenever (within reason), but not sure if i can take the standard level of quality and baking completeness that frontier allow through triage.
