ObsidianAnt video about odyssey delay.

This, whatever the reason might be, Covid or otherwise, I'm not at all surprised that Odyssey is pushed back again, it's just how Fdev works, and you bet it's going to be full of bugs too at release.
The time difference of at least six months between pc and console gives me a very bad taste in my mouth though.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not hostile about it.
It's just been my experience that FDev often make promises they can't keep.

Play the game that is available (or don't), rather than getting bent out of shape over the expansion that isn't.

When it comes to SciFi, ED is probably my 2nd-favourite franchise, after Star Wars, so unless LucasArts decides to release an open-world space-sim in the next 6 months, I'll be sticking with ED to get my pretend spaceship jollies for the foreseeable future.

Well even if all the above is true, for our own sakes its probably better to wait.

Maybe its more about whether the leopard wants to change its spots (possible?). Regardless of any problem they may have had, if the same manager who did every other release makes the call to release it as they always have.. well best not to think about it until the alpha.

If anything, id probably just double check expecting all of odysee to be amazing and for you. The features you think you're not going to play with you probably aren't, just like every other frontier patch in history regardless of what you think beforehand.

Now you will be on his hit list, welcome to the group. Maybe it would be advantageous if one of us print a list of synonyms for the word 'stupid', at leas his posts wouldn't read so repetitious then. :D

You're right, I'm probably on the list now. I always thought it would be for something more direct, but such is life. I've been here a bit over a year, I had a couple of names come to mind as I read, but there's only one list. :p

Oh I'm not hostile either, disappointed yes and a bit gutted too since I play on Xbox but I can't bother myself to be mad about a video game, I'm 54 I've got enough other stuff to be grumpy about.
I'm just not surprised by another delay, it's Fdev after all.
There are plenty other games out there and coming this year for me to enjoy and there's this thing called real life that's not to shabby either despite the lockdown.

When Odyssey releases I'm just gonna see if it's still worth my time and money, it looks pretty good but so do other games like Fs2020 and autumn is still along way ahead.

Has Fdev ever released an update when originally intended?
Yes:
  • 1.1, 1.2, 1.3, 1.4, 2.0 = all on time
  • 2.1 = delayed 6 weeks
  • 2.2 = delayed 2 months
  • 2.3 = delayed 4 months
  • 2.4 = on time
  • 3.0, 3.1, 3.2, 3.3 = all on time
  • Apr19, Sep19, Jan20 = all on time
  • FleetCarriers = delayed by 18 months
13 out of 17 updates, or 76%

Regardless, they've missed so many scheduled releases that I'm simply not interested in Oddyesse until I can click a "download now" button.
You're posting in a thread about Odyssey, so you are a little bit interested 😉

You're conflating my interest in people's reactions with an interest in the thing itself. ;)

Obviously, I have a certain amount of interest in a large expansion for my favourite game but I genuinely have no interest in when it's released, whether or not it's delayed or what the excuses/reasons for that delay are.
It'll get here sooner or later, and then I'll buy it and experience it for myself. (y)

tbf, not paying attention to a thing unless it actually exists is a reasonable thing to do. Hype is a modern disease. For decades I pretty much never knew about a game until it was actually in the shops. Worked fine.
If you give players a stake in a game by telling them that it won't happen unless you cough up money a couple of years early, then you create not only an engaged community, but a genuinely entitled one.
