Lack of ways to support ED financially?

Upon reflection of the original post, I have the following suggestion on how we can all help to support a multi million pound company more.

Idea 1
A simple direct taxation of every players IRL earnings. I think somewhere between 10-15% should be adequate

Idea 2
Ships must be rented and never owned. Standard cost should be about £5 pw for a Sidewinder and £65 pw for a Cutter or Corvette, FC's will also require a non refundable deposit of £1000 at initial rental.

Idea 3
Cmdrs must sign over at least three internal organs that Fdev can choose to harvest at any time for sale on the organ black market, I hear kidneys fetch a rather handsome price, what what.

I would greatly appreciate feedback on what I believe are reasonable ideas?

Liver and lungs are probably pretty well used by now, but I’ve got a kidney I don’t think I’m using much and I still don’t know what the spleen is for, and my brain is honestly wasted...

The problem is the relationship isn't 2 ways with this developer. If they went the extra mile then you could subjectively decide they're worthy of you're support.

The issue with the support idea is frontier run their business not by love of the product or players but by "the numbers" first. And you can't hold this against them of course.

The only problem is, when it comes to corporate adoration, the only thing you can do keep your elite experience as free as possible. What they do manages to cover your time cost and not much more (imo).

I have a feeling if you poll the white knights, they pretty much spend close to zero in the game (and are quite assertive and proud of this too). My mistake was doing the "support" thing via skins and arx to expect at least some greater level of care. Didn't work out.

Well I got paid today so I decided to “support” ED/FDev in the best way I know how and bought a 25,000 ARX bundle for £12.99.
(Also bought the Cowboy Bebop Boxset but that’s just for me).

Probably gonna rinse half of it today tarting up my FC and a few ships.

I wonder if Mr Braben will write me a thank you letter? 🤔

He should write to you and say "See you space cowboy"

They should make cosmetics people want. How about some new thruster / weapon colorations (or dual colorations? Or multi-color/rainbow? Or the ability to color each hardpoint differently even). They give glasses for commanders to wear but don't give us any of the cool sunglasses drawn on the NPC portraits in stations mission boards. How about more commander tattoos? Or commander outfits (especially with Odyssey coming)?

I'm honestly not sure if this is a form of Simping or if alot of us have formed a codependent relationship with this company. Im not judging though because I was a white knight for fdev until they released fleet carriers. If I just give them some more money maybee daddy fdev won't beat me as much and give me a pat on the head if I give enough.

For the people that love, protect and find worth in the success of a corporate entity sure. Even for the less complicated though, i think it was just a subconscious failure to think about it.. instead after spending whatever amount of money you start expecting something back in return. Sure you dont seriously expect what you want (its always feedback and their choice), but you do expect them to at least act like the others... critically... who are also offering to take your money in the same way.

Sure even that is unreasonable because its not offered, so again just a mistake.

Its a unique attitude they have.. frontier don't care and dont expect anything more than they happen to manage. This in contrast to most other service games who care alot about maximising how much you spend and put a lot of care in making it happen. Not necessarily bad i guess.

The crazy thing is, when I bought ED, I'd seen SC mentioned too, saw it was alpha and thought "soon then" and then, reading around, saw it had been in alpha for 5 years already!

I don't understand how CR is getting away with milking folk for so much money, nor how anyone can sincerely compare a released product (no matter how poor or otherwise their opinion of it) with one that makes no attempt to do more than publish another roadmap to the "cake tomorrow" 🤷‍♂️

The cake is a lie..

I would love to buy a hoodie but they are out of stock. Anyone know if there will be more or if it's out for good ?

Follow the Frontier store link to Spreadshirt and you can add Elite designs to almost anything you want. Plus you can customise them with additional text and graphics. Not cheap but good quality.
.... or for a more reasonable price meet Filthymick420 in the carpark behind Costco and he'll sort you out ;) (sorry Filthy :) )

Whoa thank you, exactly what I wanted :)

O my goodness, I played WoT a lot and was happy to get to a game without just being a cash cow. WoT's only purpose seems to me to earn as much cash as possible from each player. Think of premium account, premium vehicles, premium consumables, lootboxes and so on ...
It really is. The sad part is it didn't start out that way. At the beginning they were actually genuinely honest but over time they just got worse and worse. I became disheartened by them constantly nerfing the premium vehicles and I kept seeing a pattern. Introduce new premium tank, buff premium tank, wait about 2 months after it goes off sale then nerf it into the ground. Then a few weeks before it goes on sale again suddenly it gets a buff again. It was sickening. The lootboxes finally broke the camel's back for me and now I can't even look at it anymore.
