Console fixed weapons needs to be fixed.

PC Players have the exact same issue...K&M with FA-Off is 1 billion times easier than with a HOTAS setup. I've never been able to get any joystick curves to successfully work, I wish FD would implement something in game for this.
Yes something should be implemented Bc mnk is way easier then controller. Sensitivity curve settings are needed for console.

How's the Elite controller in terms of build quality, anyone any experience with it? I'll need to replace my standard pad eventually, and the Elite one is bleedin expensive for a gamepad, but if it'll last me the added functionality would be a nice compromise between what I have and a HOTAS setup.

I read a lot of horror stories regarding the old (black) Elite1 controllers.
However, i do have an White Elite 1 controller (they are a later revision it seems) since April 2019 and is pristine. No rubber peel-out (*), no drifting. It's just perfect
And i have close to 3000 hours in ED on XB
So either i'm very lucky or the white Elite1 controllers were better than their previous incarnation.

No experience with Elite 2 controllers (but i do hate the fact they have only a single Tall stick option and the sticks from Elite1 do not match to Elite2)

(*) In the summers especially, where there is a bigger chance for sweaty hands, i do keep close a roll of kitchen paper towels
That might have helped too...
Also washing hands more often also helps ( and not only the rubber under-covers of the controller :) )

I use Tennis racket handle wrap. Works well imo. For my Joysticks.

Thanks for the detailed write up. How are the thumbsticks compared to the regular XBO pad? That's one thing I don't like about it, I find them quite uncomfortable and think I even caught some form of RSI in my thumb (more nerve pain really) which I never had with any other pad. Or maybe I just play too much these days lol.

Sincerely cant really remember any issues with them sticks between the Standard XB controller and the Elite one.
However, the Elite 1 does come with 3 sizes for thumb sticks (small, medium, tall) and i'm using the tall ones for both sticks.

Ah, i forgot to mention that the Elite 1 allows for some sort of customization on the Stick curves. IIRC there are 3 default profiles with some customization on each of them
For some players, this might be the bit that is more important than the extra underbelly pads :)

I was mostly referring to the texture/shape of the top of the sticks - it seems the rather defined edges seem to cause some discomfort in my thumbs. But good to know regarding the above, it does seem to have quite a lot of features so will give it some consideration when my current pad is on its way out.

I have both elite mk1 and 2 controllers, my mk1 suffered from rubber peel and left stick drift, the mk2 is IMO a good upgrade, not suffered any problems with it as of yet.
However you CANNOT assign anything except A,B,X,Y buttons to it. So unfortunately no using it for lateral thrusters but does make it easier for awkward button combos eg Y+X

Small and Tall have Concave rubber tops, with a rugged texture on the external circumference
the Mediums have Convex fine textured heads. A pic here.

Weird, On Elite1 i could assign any normal button to the underpads (d-pads, ABXY, LS/RS Clicks, RB/LB basically any button from the normal controller).
I think it's highly unlikely they would drop this option for Elite2

@OP sorry for drifting the topic around here :)
stopping now :)

Nice one, it's the concave ones I don't like (seem to be the same ones as on the regular pad) but the convex look like what I need.

Thanks again and I'll stop with the derailing also ;)

Ships all have different yaw/pitch (turning) speeds. To be able to change this via a sensitivity setting would completely nullify this fact.

Just imagine changing settings and turning like an FDL in a Type-9, or how op a type 10 would suddenly become. I'm sorry but this is a terrible idea

It seems to work just fine in MSFS2020, which features RL planes with different flight characteristics. I play that with my Xbox pad and it doesn't mess up the feel of flying those planes (but the sim allows you to set curves for every axis) - what it does help with is to allow for those tiny, precise incremental inputs making the whole experience much smoother. That's sorely missing from Elite.

Theres already sensitivity curves goin on PC via tools. It works in that your pitch speed gets to the max unliniear (duh). Pull the stick a bit and its super slow, pull the stick to the max and you get max speed.. nothing like a fdl flying like a type-9. Being able to fine tune that is a no question for everyone taking aiming more serious.

Not really, even with a Scurve +4 on my HOTAS for FA ON the T9 still need ages to turn and I have the feeling I'm ripping the stick out of the socket.
Also from my experience curves are rather training wheels in combat. In fa off I went from slow back to normal. It really is a matter of practice.

nah you just wrote complete bullcrap an we pointed that out :D
Maybe things are different when you are on pc but in any game I've played on ps4 sensitivity just makes your aim move faster or slower and in elite this would translate to ship turning speed. Since this thread specifically states console sensitivity I think I'm slightly more right than you guys. Good effort though

I think you're mixing up movement speed with sensitivity curves. Not the same thing.

Idk what to tell you guys, I know what I'm saying. Maybe you're thinking of dead zone but on ps4 sensitivity is movement speed ON ANY GAME IVE SEEN IT ON this is specific because perhaps you all play different games than me and just so happen to have this mixed up (unlikely)
