A thread about salvage becomes a thread about new ships. Watch the video you lazy millennial forumites!

A thread that does not 'just' include comments about new ships, is now further ruined with collective labelling and additional salt.

Well done with strengthening those battle lines sir <O 😕

Unfortunately no game has it all and we always have to make compromises. I doubt for instance SE's flight model is even remotely comparable to that of ED.

Well, there is this

How is that in any way related to flight physics? This is an extended number of demo videos. If you think that's an answer worth to quote me, you should at least provide a hint at what point and in what of the demo videos your point is being made.

I wasn't talking about flight physics. I was talking about OPs suggestion to have ship salvage mechanics.

You probably misunderstood what i was talking about when I said FD are unlikely to do anything like what OP suggests.

Hm.... a piece of advice for the technical makeup of the Video :

  • pop-ups of "User XYZ is now following" using weirdo animations with live "Thank you for contributing to my revenue stream" comments -> Don't. Ever. It's super lame, awkward and makes you look like you're working to get the "Infuenza disease".
  • putting yourself into the Stream -> Sometimes a clear voice (which you have and which is recognizable) is simpler and better. Sometimes less is more.
  • overall, anything that sounds like "Please follow and subscribe" -> avoid like the pest, it literally makes people press the "Stop Replay" button

The only thing that was missing were sparkles, donation whoopies, hearts and other weird stuff floating around the screen.

Overall due to the factors above : 0 out of 10, wouldn't follow/subscribe/watch

Explanation : there's just so many click who(wait, can't write that) on the web using those super weird stream/follower/subscriber mechanics and associated visuals... don't try to be like them. Try to be as different from them as you can make it happen.

That's my 2 cents more or less.
From the looks of it, I wasn't the only one thoroughly put off by the demonstrated "stream mechanics". I've got no idea why these have become so popular, they're absolutely horrid, sufficiently horrid to totally distract from the delivered content IMHO.
This is some useful feedback imo even just in general terms - I certainly will give YT'ers who use these 'features' a wide berth, in fact I stopped following a number of channels once they introduced e-begging tactics (it's incredibly distracting and downright annoying) - it's a bit of a shame that the Pilot started going down this route, as I really liked his videos, his voice is pleasant and the general length of his clips was about right. But I guess it was always inevitable that once all ship reviews were done, the "what now?" question would appear.

That's the big shame about YouTube these days isn't it - remember the very early days when people just uploaded their stuff for the fun of it, and left it at that... now people want to monetize the heck out of their content making it a career path as opposed to a hobby, and because the competition is so big the cries for attention are getting more desperate which feeds into the content directly.

I have a handful of subscriptions made to channels. It was never really worth it to stick around. The most persistent creators I watch are cheesemeister LegendofTW, because I get ideas how to play the game in ways I've never thought of before.
And a couple of builder game ppl. Usually they know nifty tricks I wasn't aware of or come up with insane ideas like boiling oil to petrol to sour gas and back to crack water with net energy gain in Oxygen not Included or whathaveyou deep down in game mechanics. Stuff like rocket-jumping - you simply don't know, then you see someone do it and you want to try yourself.
I mean I still have to wrap my head around how to cool with heat but it works...

I watched it earlier. Fine as a spitballing session. The format's not my cup of tea, but as shown by certain popular YT creators, that's no barrier to popularity.
However, this creator has a large store of credit built up from the amazing ship review videos, so this gets a YT 'like' from me for nostalgia.

Having sat through way too many 10-15 minute videos showing me how to unscrew the screws from the bottom of laptops to dissasemble them, when all I am after is a picture with arrows showing me where the screws are because I damn well already know how to use screwdriver and don't need to watch you unscrewing......ad break....16 screws 1 at a time, I now no longer click and watch videos unless they are accompanied by detailed descriptions because most videos are just revenue generating wastes of my time.

You want my attention then you need to actually explain why it deserves my attention and not just say "you need to watch this" because 99% of the time, no, I didn't need to watch, and no, I'm not going to watch it just on your say so!

This.
I'm 54 and don't have time for this nonsense, just write down what you want to say and I might reply, this is a forum not a youtube promotion site.

Already explained that, not going to watch some random video posted on the forum without some idea of what I am going to be watching....and the more you post whining about people not watching the less likely I am ever going to watch a video posted by yourself. You want me to watch you have to convince me to watch, not just post it and say "it's a must watch".

Fact is I care even less about what's in the video now than I did before because I have taken a dislike to the poster, no offense intended, but that's the way it is!
I actually don't give a damn if you watch it or not.

I'm getting a hell of a lot of joy watching you kick my thread to the top of the forums over, and over, and over though.

Promoting a video that you literally refuse to watch. :)

I get to live rent free in your head.

By all means rage on.

Negative advertising might seem good but it really isn't.

Some players might get a kick out of your attitude, but generally the response is obviously negative.

Wow.... just... wow.

Good luck with your channel buddy.

He's a model of restraint as far as I'm concerned. A ton of the comments here have been unnecessarily rude and hostile for no reason. The guy posted a video about a video game we play, that's it. What's the problem with that?

A lot of posts have been pathetic attention-seeking too, which is annoying. The thread is a video post, he tagged it as a video post. If you make a post saying "I don't want to watch your video whaaaaa" or something when it's obvious that this is a video being posted before you even clicked to read the thread, you're just seeking attention. Kinda desperate. Not a good look imo.

And yeah the hyper-critical "reviews" from people on how he should do his channel when they don't have one of their own? Meh, armchair quarterbacking. I would respond to that exactly as he has.

Dude doesn't work for FDev. He's under no obligation to be polite when faced with such immature toxicity here for no reason.

THIS.

But there is a reason why people didn't like the Original Post.

The whole thread would have died in obscurity if The Pilot took the feedback and hadn't resorted to insults, which just generated more negative response etc.

This particular thread might have attracted a couple viewers, but was it really worth it?

It's totally fine to not like the Pilot or his content. But there's a mile wide gap between constructive criticism and whatever this has been.....

This isn't like watching TV and having a commercial shoved in your face. If you choose to click a thread knowing full-well what's in it, then further waste your time posting about how a video thread is a waste of your time - well then I'm just going to assume you have a motive of bad intentions when you complain openly about it.

Feedback? That's stretching the word a bit in my opinion.
