So I watched Morphologis's vid talking about Delamar. I must admit the graphical quality of the game while he was walking around Levski is very good. SC is a nice looking game. I thought I really should head over there in Live and check it out before it 'left'.
Last time I played I managed to land my Cutlass in such a way as I couldn't get back into it (I have never had problems getting back into my ED ships that have landed), so that was not immediately available. I started the claim, recalled my Mustang and hopped into it. Somehow (I have no idea how) while trying to hit 'Flight Ready' I managed to trigger the ejection seat. Now the Mustang is unflyable even after logging out and back in. I have no idea how to fix that.
By this time my Cutlass was good to go, so I got into it, took off and was working on the navigation to get to Delamar when the client crashed.
I guess SC really doesn't want me playing it? Until next year (or maybe the year after?), Delamar!
I can't think of another game that is so hostile to people simply trying to play it - even just for sightseeing. I spent over half an hour just getting to this point, and it would be at least another 20 minutes before I'd regain access to the Cutlass (without expediting). If the client crashed in Elite I'd either reload exactly where I left, or I'd be safely back in my ship on the landing pad. I wouldn't be waking up in a bunk that takes a dozen attempts just to get out of, walking to a terminal just to start a ship retrieval, then waiting another 15 minutes for the claim to complete.
While watching another YouTube that was full of SC clips showing off the various bugs and issues people encounter, it occurred to me that the vast majority of entertainment people appear to be getting out of SC is the bugs and glitches. If CIG were to actually fix them, there would be much less entertainment in the game. It's actually a disincentive for CIG to fix bugs. Just like the enormous amount of pledges CIG received last year for ships is a disincentive for CIG to actually release a game where those ships could be earned in game as persistent assets.
Perhaps I'm late to the party, but I'm starting to wish SC would just fail already and put all the backers (including myself) out of our misery.
