General / Off-Topic The Expanse, Season 5 :: December 16th 2020

I think they will need to dump the books. Season 6 is too short to get it all in.

It might be that the last books are TV films (which would be great, because then you can cut the flab out)- my guess is season 6 will end like the book does, which mostly ties things up before the natural break in the books timeline.

Very hard to do with the pandemic going on. There's tons of stuff in the pipeline.

I have a horridly unpopular idea: Blow up the Ring. Yes, I know, the books.

Paster would still have a job, if he had listened to Chrissie (I love that nickname). The Earth, and Mars are spent, and Inaros will blow himself up. Getting Inaros is pretty much the next thing, plus the rebuilding. So, the story ends, too. Yes, I know, the books. :(

Speaking of things hidden in plain sight, that Martian battlewagon at the Ring will blow up the two UN ships. Inaros was looking at his tactical display.

Sauvaterre was lecturing about the Ring being an asymmetrical choke point.

The fleet dispositions at the Ring were discussed in Paster's sit room meeting.

The Ring needs to die. Heretic!

Almost certainly it will disrupt filming in some way (I think its already started though, or is in pre-production).

For me the Laconian and ring entity stories are what drives my interest- I'd be sad if they got cut off :D )

I think that was the Epstien drive (coloured blue) torpedo the freighter fired carrying the protomolecule away and not an attack. If you review that scene, the torpedo spread had green drive plumes with one being blue (that torpedo firing away first).

Great catch!

I think you're right. I totally missed that, It was bigger than a torpedo, and not because of the breaching pod. I officially suck at noticing things.

The treacherous engineer might be running Tycho when Holden gets back...

And this brings me to my biggest gripe with season 5- you have to freeze frame a lot and look at background details to 'get' the scene. Inaros looking at a certain gunship on a screen, a hand terminal with battle plans, silly little details that should be shown or made much clearer. A lot of story is lost via this, and it really makes watching very janky.

The quarter dropped.

That security guard that beat up the engineer, Leveau, is now aboard the Roci. Maybe he was getting instructions from the engineer...and beat her up to cover it.

I think he might be a ringer, and Monica will be the one to catch him. Bull has a bad track record of noticing this stuff.

The engineer might be holding the protomolecule and the scientist for Marco. She's a Genius Fanatic. The Anti-Naomi.

Well, one episode to go. Lets hope next week is satisfying because a crap ending is a bad way to start a years wait for the next and last season.

Another clue- Leveau has a name, and has been pretty good at his job on the Roci. Competent Redshirt? With a name?

The alarm klaxons are sounding.

That's what my pause button, and magnifying glass are for...

Pause button and magnifying glasses? Yes, they may come handy. 🤓

(If you watched the right movies, you'll surely know from which scene that was taken)

A "Death Blossom"? :)

Additionally, PDC 1 is still jammed as of Episode 9. Don't think they won't use that.

I want to see just how Drummer offs Karal.

Marco's tactical shows a curved course to the Ring. Blow it up! To heck with the books!

How ... can they end like that if they don't plan to do book 7? 🤔

Having now watched all of s5 a couple of times (well, ep10 only once) I have to say I liked it more on the second run through. It certainly doesn't like to over-explain, and as usual not completely convinced by all the variations from the books, but so good to see them come to life :)

Well, at least Karal got whacked, and by the least suspected person....

@Rubbenuke .. You got Laconia. I won't spoil more.
