Is coriolis accurate?

I was playing around with different resistance mod combinations for armor and HRP in coriolis and noticed some strange things. Does the program accurately portray what actually happens in game when your build is at the extreme ends of diminishing returns/ inverse of diminishing returns? I saw that video with the pilot and was able to re create the bizzare outcome he demonstrated in addition to another counter intuitive result.

Ok. Thanks. Are the bizzare inverse diminishing returns widely known? Example, if you have mirrored armor modded lightweight it has a kinetic resistant about -49. If you had add kinetic resistant HRP it comes back into the 20s despite that module only supposedly added 41 points. So you get something like 60 or 70 points of resistance from a module that only should add 41. In addition you can actually GAIN resistance on thermal from the same module that has a -7 effect on thermal resistance. The math doesn't make sense to me. Is there someone out there who understands these arcane intricacies?

I don’t know how widely known this is, but I hope FDev is aware of it. It’s known in some hardcore pvp circles, and it looks like some people reported it to the bug tracker... but none of the reports are “confirmed.”

It clearly is a bug, though, because the game is adding two negative numbers together and somehow producing a positive. So engineering traits designed to handicap a player are actually making the player stronger. There’s no way in hell that’s an intentional mechanic.

@Bruce G @Stephen Benedetti @Arthur Tolmie any thoughts?

That sucks a bit. All my ships were built using Coriolis. If there is a bug, FDev will probably fix it at some point making me re-engineer parts of the design... Not funny... And I agree EDSY needs a lot of TLC...

Some figures are not accurate (apart from that bug mentioned),you have to test in game mostly (and compare with your Outfitting/Ship Panel figures),but it's the best tool we have to theorycraft builds.EDSY UI is

My biggest problem with Coriolis is that it allows you to wander into "impossible" builds.

For a couple of things I've seen done, I ended up:
  • Going to a station
  • Buying a ship
  • Buying a power plant
  • Storing the plant
  • Selling the ship
  • Flying to the the Engineer
  • Paying to summon the plant
  • Installing a plant that wouldn't push the build
  • Engineering it into something useful

That is exactly what I need to do to my Exploration Phantom. For now I have some heavy PP that is not doing much. I will be changing it into some smaller unit and adding the same engineering/effect at engineer location...

Yeah, I have an Exploraconda w/ a 3A Overcharge 3 plant using that method.

Well if the method feels too gamey you could always engineer the module in something that it would work in then store it to later fit in the ship where it wouldn’t have worked before engineering.
Naw, my comment was aimed at, Coriolis doesn't tell you that what you want requires hoops. That is not a criticism, just meant as an awareness that your theorycrafting may need... unusual measures to work.

Edit: 'sides, hopping around the bubble in that beast makes most places less than 6 jumps away. 😸

Can you provide the link to your build please?? I am considering Anaconda for exploration so I may store this for future use...
