How Gankers Made my Game more Fun.

Gankers have destroyed the multi player exploration side of the game, any point of interest turns into a solo experience pretty quickly for obvious reasons.

If it's a point of interest it's probably less 'exploration' and more 'tourism'. That said, I don't find the presence of hostile CMDRs while out exploring, or sightseeing, to be problematic, from a gameplay perspective. Indeed, if it were a more credible approximation of exploration, there would be more competition, and the dangers that go along with it.

I doubt it. Then again - I find the whole murderhobo galaxy not very convincing either.

Historically, real explorers have often been armed to the teeth, because that was part of preparing for both known and unknown threats. Mutinies, claim jumpers, hostile natives, other explorers sponsored by hostile states, etc and so forth, were frequent possibilities. If anything, prominent fictional explorers are even more militant.

If someone else knows about it and can get to it, assuming that no one else will be there, or that everyone else going there will be friendly, is pretty silly, IMO.

When I first started, I died daily by npcs, stations, outposts, and stupid gravity. When I went into Open I still died more often to the npcs and draconian rules of the orbitals than gankers.

A death is a death. A rebuy a rebuy.

Yet for a couple of deaths by a PvPer, an anti-PvPer is born.

It is a given, that if you break the rules of the Orbital station, like for instance, "loitering", you will be killed.
It is a given, if you click Open, you may be shot.

Everyone seems to readily accept being killed by NPCS, orbitals, toast racks, etc. However, upon clicking Open, some, not all, get enraged when shot at by a human. How dare that human not share the same set of belief systems as me in this pretend video game!
Their rage is then directed at all PvPers.

Yes, it is your fault if you broke a station's rules.
And yes, it is partially your fault if you clicked Open.

Fdev knew what would occur and hence PG and Solo modes. Nevertheless, because of that one unfortunate day in Open, all PvPers sometimes become reviled.

I always play in Solo if I do not want to be shot.

There's a lot of salt thrown at humans by humans on both sides of the fence. There really needs to be more salt thrown at the mail slots and landing pads.

:)

Man, there are tons of benefits playing in open. I did lot of collaborations with a lot of great people, we did some great hauls and very entertaining combat missions.

Also when I complete wing missions by myself and turn up upon some newcomer, I often offer them to join my wing and get free money.

I also got killed by players but not as often as you seem to think. It’s not that dangerous.
If not busy I friend and wing up with random Cmdrs when I ask first and tell them I am Chaotic Good

Are you proposing Open only BGS manipulation? Play the game as it is, not the one you want it to be ;)
Nope. We do play the game as it is - that does not stop people seeking changes that would benefit them even if they would adversely affect others, Open only being a case in point.

How an individual perceives their experiences with others in Open rather depends on their tolerance, or lack thereof, for being targeted in unwanted PvP encounters (something that is, of course, something that one should expect in Open) regardless of how rare they may be - and whether or not they consider that the encounter was worth their time.
I think I can agree with that without it detracting from my original statement 👍. I guess my point of view is that the game was billed as something much worse than it was by some outspoken/disillusioned players, and I wish I could explain that to new/potential players.

You don't even have to be a PvPer, I can tell you!

Oh and I'm not sure, I was pretty furious when the game crashed yesterday just at the denouement of a particularly stubborn wing assassination mission:)

They were exploring a world inhabited by other people, tribes, nations who were armed and protective of their property. Not an empty galaxy.
