"Dear Mr Hat, due to an unforseen 'property reassignment' we regrettably inform you that what you consider to be 'YOUR LAWN' is now solely owned by "Vermin Trading Associates" and your eviction papers are attached. Sincerely yours

Lol - that made me think of a second hand shop that used to be near me, called "Re-utilized Goods, by Flogitt and Leggit." Always made me laugh!

Ah, see, I'm more glass half empty, I find myself disagreeing with you far too infrequently :sneaky:

 mirror universe confirmed! (I'm the handsome evil version)

Good grief, if your the handsome one, then it doesn't bode well for our dear Ratty....

He's more the "Tom Sellick" type, whereas I must be more of the "Jack Klugman" class...

And that makes me think of the Alan Partridge bit, where he describes Lyn as being a bit like Burt Reynolds - "she's useful, but has a mustache..."

That probably makes no sense to anyone but me, but when I was a nipper, I used to think that Tom Selleck and Burt Reynolds were the same person. I blame the movie Smokey and the Baby. And my age....

Upgrade the stock headset strap and get a sippy cup with a straw!
Instructions unclear...?

She has a response for opening map and one for closing map. Its for immersion.
Sure

But do you need all the responses? For every little interaction?

All I am saying is, if you don't find a solution for those kind of responses that don't work and consequently break immersion, don't use those particular ones :)

Treat it like a toggle.

I think, for me, that I'll drop out from VR for Odyssey content I know I'll do on foot - it just feels 'wrong' on the loading screen moving my head and it moving with me, but the SRV / Flying on these 'new' assets should be enjoyable!
The screen won't move with your head on Odyssey. That would be bizarre.

Here's a tip I learned from experimenting with Voice attack and VR. I found that having some kind of audible response is necessary for simply acknowledging that a command has been received. This is particularly useful for commands that may not have a specific in-game feedback. An example of this might be selecting the next or previous target. Voice commands become an almost must have because - as I've learned the hard way - I soon ran out of fingers, buttons and brain capacity. 🧠

Also, in the past year, I've switched off almost all ED voice cockpit notifications while in VR. After one gets experienced in the game, I found these to be distractions. Instead, when I issue a command via Voice Attack, I use the audible beeps and sounds to acknowledge that a command was received and executed. First off, beeps are much shorter in duration than voice. That may be a minor nitpick but not so much when you're in combat where every spit second counts. Second, I found that my brain responds better to a tone whereby the pitch goes up or down depending on what setting I'm changing. So a high pitch signal for engines up while a lower pitched signal for engines down. Yes, I can do this also with my HOTAS but sometimes "All Stop" command can be handy. This can be particularly true for critical engine speeds such as 75% for planetary approaches. My custom VA command for that announces a simple "75%" without the gibber jabber of a pre-recorded message.

Where I use VA extensively in VR is when I am resource farming with game respawns. I have a respawn command that actually counts reports each step of the respawn. This is amazingly helpful in VR and non-VR play when let's say you're on top of a USS that has only a few minutes left on the timer. In that case every second counts between respawns.

I used to use EDDI exclusively but have weaned off of it. After a while I found that the voice responses were too verbose, especially when landing in a new system. I spent a lot of time modding it and that helped but truth be told, it's buggy when you mod it extensively like I did and there are too many arbitrary limitations that only computer programmers seem to understand.

I'm glad you like the experience. ED was made for VR. I hope the Devs do Odyssey justice though. I fear that if past experience is any indication, VR will take second place to other dev efforts. If you follow the VR market, there isn't enough of a player base yet to warrant dev resources and that shows in the amount of innovation that's not showing up in games. We can always hope though.

Should be able to do it - at least these events are in the status.json (not familiar with EDDI, but I'm using the status.json for my AHK script).
Yes, you can using EDDI with VA. But as I mentioned earlier, there may be a delay between the thing happening and elite writing it to the journal or status files. Reading these file directly will be faster than using EDDI but who wants to reinvent the wheel when someone else has done it and maintains it?
