Newcomer / Intro What are you up to?

And then this happened:

Haven't seen that for a while!

Messing around looking for Taylor Keep, saw some scrap/wreckage on the ground, landed. Scooped 1 antimony from a cargo rack and some uranium canister. Switched off PC to get a bite. Thinking if I re-log I could grab some more antimony.

When I re-logged, the junk wasn't there anymore (is this normal? some 1-off scrap on the ground?)

The after flying a couple KM, spotted this guy on the ground. 1st time I seen an NPC ship sitting in the middle of nowhere on the ground. What is he up to?

Now that I look at the picture, I remember I have engineeered Bi weaves on fast charge. Should have rammed him open.... duh

1. Yes, random junk, not persistent.
2. Coffee break. :D

What are you waiting for? Collect the bounty!

Wait, if it is lawless but not wanted, is there a bounty?

I left him alone because he was a Fed Authority ship, I don't roleplay as a cop killer. And I wasnt interested in getting an annoying notoriety point as well.

My question is, is it quite normal to have an NPC sitting in the middle of nowhere on the ground? Its a first for me.

Yes there are temporary Points of Interest on the ground that can contain stuff.

Well if there is a compound near by with a trespass zone he could be their extra security, otherwise he is just a trap of some sort, after all everything is.

Lawless means you are in an anarchy, you would have to use Kill Warrant Scanner to see if he had a bounty from elsewhere.

Really good choice - I have used the Fighterstick for years. People moan about no twist - no need for that*; people moan about it not having hall-effect sensors - not a problem, the pots seem good enough quality; people moan about it being 8-bit - so what, you really need more than 256 point accuracy? Seriously great piece of kit, built like a brick outhouse with industrial grade switches and no stupid cables breaking with use.

I have used CHPro for many years in flight sims - rudder pedals and yoke are really old and still work with no issues. I also have the CHPro Throttle and for me this is the best throttle for Elite - stacks of HAT switches and buttons plus an analogue mini-stick for thrusters (that needs a good deadzone as there is just a small throw).

It's all about marketing really. Let's guesstimate the stick has 200 millimetres of throw, in reality it's probably closer to 150. Divide this to 8 bits, end up with 0,8 millimetre steps. I seriously doubt I'll ever need more accuracy, but marketing needs numbers that can be compared to competitors' numbers.

Mechanically this seems really solid. Feels like I'm using an industrial controller whereas the couple of Logitechs available at the store felt (and especially looked like) more like toys.

Finally, can I point you to this bindings renaming and backing-up post - it will save you no end of grief if you do the renaming:

Congratulations on your stick, hopefully you will have many years of fun with it.

Thanks! Did the renaming and it is really handy. I've got yaw temporarily on keyboard, will move it to a rather surprising device later this week and post pictures - CH pedals are in short supply and I came up with a... solution that's good enough while I wait for restock.

On my way back from the rim in Mare Somnia, passing through an area that is mainly T and Y class stars. Three times i've almost run out of fuel and been stranded. It is only by keeping a close eye on my fuel gauge and adjusting my course accordingly that i have managed to stave off disaster. Twice i have arrived at a fuel star on fumes. Very scary, and i'm still not out of the woods.
