All carriers have a shipyard by default with a Sidewinder available to buy at 0 credits, with no option to disable this facility.

If held hostage, player can buy Sidewinder, self destruct, respawn in Freewinder in bubble, and have real ship transferred back with existing mechanics.

Boom. (Literally) No more hostage cases.

Or people can learn to NOT. TRUST. RANDOMS. ON. THE. INTERNET.

Really, it's that easy.

FCs should get the module addition "crack negotiation team" to free those hostages by sweet talking the captors out of it! 750m fitting cost @25m per week maintenance seems fair.

Mine doesn't have a shipyard! It only has a shipyard if you install the shipyard service!
Which is why an small update would be needed...

You're misreading my post, so I'll reiterate.

All carriers are given a shipyard by default with no option to disable the facility.

Yes but we don't live in a fantasy world.

I'm offering a practical and realistic solution.

You know I'm not wrong.

I made a suggestion to have a default shuttle service added to all fleetcarriers. The crew has some way to leave right? Odyssey will have it anyway so let everyone be able to use it.

Err, hellooo, FC bridge comes first tyvm.
I detect sarcasm but just in case: I suspect a light edit to the UI is significantly easier than creating a while new game environment.

I hope people understand that what I'm suggesting here is similar to how existing mechanics are used in games such as say, Skyrim, to create mechanics and solutions by modders there, right?

It's undoubtedly easy for FD to do if they wanted.

You would think that, wouldn't you - but the current state of Elite's UI and its colourful (well, mostly orange) potpourri of bugs appear to tell a different story.

Now all you need is to get this information to them. The problem isn't getting back, the problem is they've been groomed into believing they shouldn't do that.

Your solution could work. Maybe. If you'd add a mandatory freewinder tutorial on top.

The better solution would be to let people learn stuff.
I refer again to not living in a fantasy world.

If they know how to self-destruct the free Sidey and know that they will then be transported back to a station, then they would know how to self-destruct the slavers Krait, not select rebuy, then select the Sidey option.
