How does that affect your messaging though? Does it disable global chat? I've always wanted more fine tuned block tools where you separate out language from actions. I wonder if (with EDO imminent) FD are looking a bit more carefully at the MP interaction aspect.
This game is woefully short of useful comms tools in truth - even I will watch system chat mainly to see if there is anyone I'd enjoy 'interacting' with (remember I deliberately choose PvE these days - so not someone to blow up...) when it would be 'nicer' to have a 'Help Wanted' or 'Looking for Trouble' sections to peruse instead :)

One has to hope that they've given serious thought to all forms of MP interaction come the release because if the 20 thousand strong Anti-Bot brigade think cheating is rife now just wait until leg commandos are aim-botting, teleporting around the place and one hit killing poor commandos picking up their Kumo burgers at outposts and stations.

If you're not walking them three times a day for a good long walk then you're a dog slaver you! :D
Walk? Even 2 walks a day has them sleeping like babies! :ROFLMAO:

I mean is, if CMDR XYZ is being gobby I can mute them alone, but keep them in my game (since the worst anyone can physically do to you in game is blow you up).

When you mess with The Burger™ you cross the line.

Mark my words, it will be destiny-like clone with clearly defined PvP zones. I assume most missions will be PvE only and things like "on foot CZ" will be PvP.

Oh I forgot, FDev pls ban @Rat Catcher because he deceived the poor two doggos on his ekhem... fleet carrier and keeping them there, on the basis that the doggos each having Elite accounts for themselves, cmdr Barking The Magnificient and cmdr Fluffy Waggle. They're being forced to do slave labour of mining tritium for their unscrupulous master for... I cannot hold my rage... for dog food! The heinous nature of this treacherous act has to be punished! Ban the slaver!
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂

Honestly what would make system chat actually useful is some sort of indicator that there's another player actually in the system

What good is it having a notification every jump to say I've joined that system's chat if I'm the only one in the system? If it only popped up when there was another player around to talk to right now then maybe we'd see more casual conversation.
As it is, unless I'm in a hotspot or I see someone there's absolutely no point in trying to send a message due to the overwhelming likelihood that there's nobody else around to receive it.

A fair point in your example but most people are not doctors. I think it is a bit disingenuous to think that I plastered that hypothetical question over every single trade or job.

OK, so a plumber (for example) is entitled to decide that someone is an evil racist whilst a doctor is not?
I'm beginning to feel a bit discriminated against, tbh.

I'd argue that a player consents to any actions that are within the bounds of the game, including the possibility of being deceived and exploited. Indeed, the game itself has had plenty of examples of this that doesn't have anything to do with other CMDRs, and I regularly have my CMDR engage in deception to accomplish his goals (I used to fill trade and exploration ships with undersized railguns to discourage interdiction, and still give cheeky names to my CMDR's unEngineered vessels to convince people that they are too fast to catch) and I will certainly have my CMDR bluff or outright lie through his teeth if that serves his purposes.

It's probable that these slaver players didn't have the best intentions toward their fellow players, and that is unfortunate, but unless they were violating the rules of the game it's also irrelevant. Indifference, or even antipathy, do not constitute harassment.
Oh ok, great. Thanks.
