This is one reason that maybe we should eventually have ships we can walk around. We could at least have the option of manually deleting them via shotgun.

I had to self-destruct in the end. Different Elite versions, relogging, tried them all: no effect.

But it was extremely satisfying, knowing that the awkward b@stards had perished in a fire of their own making.

Watch the Belugas at the beacon. They try to fly into your path when you're not looking. You must always hit zero throttle while setting your navigation back as you scan the beacon. Missions will only fail when your hull reaches 75% or less, so small bumps are OK.
