Help new Marlinist faction!

I wonder why the marlinist governments are Patronage. Didn't their whole stick revolve around having democratically elected representatives? That was a miss from FDev.

Would love to see them be Democracy/Confederacy/Communist/Cooperative factions instead of Patronages.
The descriptions of their internal government in Galnet do seem to fit better with Democracy or Confederacy types. Certainly not Authoritarian Patronage!

Given what they wanted for the Empire, an irregular Social Patronage government would also have been pretty plausible and made them (I think) unique.

That does seem odd. The whole point of Marlinism is that their government is a democracy as Marlin Duval originally intended with the Republic of Achenar.

Perhaps they're just sticking with what government structures they know for know but I'd accept that being called a weak argument.

If it stays as patronage, you have to wonder what they weren't happy with in the first place.

It seems little odd, but I think it's just the way devs are appropriating existing assets. Maybe they thought that with Patronage they'll look more like formerly Empire affiliated, instead of being regular democracy?
As I said earlier
Their descrpition in-game is quite interesting though:
"Patronage - A group that invests significant resources into independent projects in order to incubate the growth of civilization in the supposedly untamed areas of space."

It doesn't sound like Patronage description Empire factions have (and I for one can't recall seeing it before)
What I don't like is that as factions, those Marlinist Patronages treat Imperial Slavery as legal.

I've seen a few factions out there that seem to have a hand crafted element- non-criminal anarchy factions for example so this might related. Descriptions do vary between different superpower and independent factions with the same government though, so it might be worth checking another independent patronage description.

I agree about the slavery thing though. The Empire seems to work with everyone having a societal status with accompanying rank and privileges, with Imperial slaves at the bottom. If your ideal is a democratic society I don't see how any of this fits.

so it might be worth checking another independent patronage description.
Good idea.
I've checked LTT 2622 Independent Assembly in Yamasan.
Exactly the same description and the same illegal commodities in controlled stations - it seems Marlinist are generic Independent Patronage.

The war is over.
Having owerwhelming superiority Omega Merchant Command won another day and the conflict is now oficially over.
