🐾 Planet Zoo: Update 1.5 and Southeast Asia Animal Pack out now! 🐾

Is anyone else also having crashes because of the new projection screens when it shows a video playing ? What I did is I have 3 16m Lit projection screens next to each other all playing the same video to simulate an aquarium but every time after little over a min the game crashes, if I take the screens out no more crashes.

Just tested it in my Museum with a smaller Screen that shows a Thylacine Video and it worked fine. Maybe it has something to do with File Size or the Length of the Video? 🤔
Or try if verifying the Game Files solves the Problem.
Or maybe it works if you lower the Amount of Guests that can visit at once?
I'm currently testing it with the same Screen and I'm also using 3 next to each other. No Problem so far for me

Already tried all that, and the video is not even 30 secs long so very short. No idea what causes it.

Ok, sounds weird. Did you also try if you need to update your Graphics Driver? Even though I don't really think that's the Reason 🤔
Just installed a new driver today as it released just after the dlc dropped, so that aint it either. Maybe it's just the video itself that bugs the game but that is weird on its own as I use the same video in Planco without issues

Ok, I'll let you know if I get another Idea. Did you also try if it works in a different Save File?

It's great to have the Planco billboards in the game now! Can we also advertise destinations (shops, hapitats etc) with the normal signs and signposts like in Planco?

Yup, I figured out that the problem is if all 3 use the same video it crashes.
Ok, that's weird. I've tested it with the same Screens with 3 next to each other. Maybe it doesn't work perfect with too high Quality. I've tested it with Thylacine Footage and due to it being a extremely old Video it was only in 360p.
I hope you won't have Problems with it now. Better save the Game everytime before you do something with the Billboards

I'm having problem with the billboarssds: I try to change their image but nothing happens, it only works when I add the videos. I verified and all billboards I placed are energized. This is a known bug from the update or I am the first to get it?
So, I checked the files integrity twice, reinstalled the game and nothing seemed to work. But I decided to give it a try and test other image formats, and, to my surprise, tga worked fine.

To me the problem seems something related to the way the game process image files and my game doesn't seem to recognize png, jpeg, jpg (which still is an inconvenience) but at least there is a partial fix.

Did anyone else experience something similar?

Because the whilst the sun bear will happily share a habitat with a Binturong if you tried to put it in with an elephant the chances are it would get trampled in 5 minutes. Just because species wouldn't eat each other doesn't mean they should share a habitat. On the other hand you could try it - them not receiving an enrichment bonus doesn't mean they can't live together, it just means they don't actively like living alongside them.
But what I liked was African buffalo, black wildebeest, common ostrich, common warthog, plains zebra, reticulated giraffe, sable antelope, springbok, and Thomson's gazelle all 9 animals enrich one another, red ruffed lemur and ring-tailed lemur both enrich each other, American bison and pronghorn antelope both enrich each other, Baird's tapir, Colombian white-faced Capuchin monkey, and giant anteater all enrich one another, and red kangaroo and koala enrich each other. But sun bear and binturong enrich each other, Malayan tapir and binturong enrich each other, Malayan tapir, proboscis monkey, and Indian elephant enrich one another, and Malayan tapir and Bornean orangutan enrich each other. What about the other animal combinations this time??? This is the first time in planet zoo to see only partial combinations work for interspecies enrichment...

Aren't Proboscis Monkeys and Orangutans enriching each other? I assume this would make Sense. I think it would also make Sense if both Tapir Species would enrich each other

They are not... Proboscis monkeys and Malayan tapirs and Indian elephants enrich one another, Malayan tapirs and Bornean orangutans enrich each other, but nothing between proboscis monkeys and Bornean orangutans... Baird's tapirs and Malayan tapirs live too far from each other... Why would they enrich each other???

But in a Zoo they could be kept in the same Enclosure. Also they are both Tapirs, so they behave extremely similar, maybe they can communicate without Problems with each other. Why shouldn't they enrich each other?

Yup, I figured out that the problem is if all 3 use the same video it crashes.

Maybe you can try copying the video and re-naming it. That is, keeping the same name but adding 1, 2, and 3 at the end. That way you could have the same video but each billboard would be pulling it from a different source.

Just a thought and I have no idea whether or not that will work!

Tapirs are living solitary and come together only during mating time. So there is no reason why they should benefit from being together with the bairds tapir. The bengal tiger also does not profit from being together with the siberian tiger.
And I want to come to the tapir is tapir thing. Genetically the malaysian tapir split from all other tapires more than 20 Million years ago. This is mich longer than all the panthera species split where the tiger and lion are only about 1-2 Million years from each other away. The other panthera species are genetically even closer together. And it is even longer than humans split from chimpanzees or the gorilla. So I would not be sure if they really can communicate with each other but I am not sure if they perhaps can do so.

Definitely best part of the new update and even tho a small difference is the ability to change water colors. This is huge as I’m a big fan especially of the dirty water look. Huge fan of the animals also. The billboards are a true game changer also but I still have to learn how to do all that but the water is beautiful. Great job frontier!

In Planet Zoo, there is only enrichment when they live close in similar environments...

  • Added continent tags to all rock assets. It should now be easier to swap between plant and rock menus in the nature browser as you will no longer need to remove continent filters for rocks to show up
Thank you! That was just a small thing but such an annoyance to have to switch around every time I was working on a habitat.
