ANNOUNCEMENT Hello World! Issues with the new forum? Please post here.

can I ask that thread view count be restored, having a view count helps determine if a thread is worth viewing, I ask this as there are many threads that give information but do not require a response, like the media usage rule thread or threads created by the FD team that have been posted and closed for information only.

Just as a note, I've turned off the forums search engine while the Search Index continues to rebuild this evening.

During the meantime, you can search the forums via google. Simply plop "site:forums.frontier.co.uk" without the quotes into your google search query, then the keywords that you want to search for. It would look something like this in the google search bar:
Code:
site:forums.frontier.co.uk elite dangerous beta 3

I do apologise for turning off the built in forum search, however currently the search is next to useless while the rebuild is still rolling along.

can I suggest that if people are not overly keen on the wide ass forum view, there is a elite constraint forum view, makes things a little more familiar and as such as it appears familer it feels more comfortable to navigate. odd

and what happened to the smileys?(edit: ok discovered that you have to go into the advanced view, is there an option to always have the advanced view as a default.)

next thing I think needs looking at is how invisible the add rep button is, for those of you unsure its the greyed out star under the avatar.

Liking the new design a lot, with one issue - the high contrast between text and the black background is hard on the eyes, particularly for those of us with vision problems. The theme concept is great, but the contrast could be softened by making the default text very pale grey and the background dark blue. Would another theme alternative be possible?

Thanks for the great work so far - the functionality is much improved over the old forums :)

Thanks for all the feedback guys. Obviously there's still work to do, but I have no doubt that Brett C will carry on doing an amazing job.

Did I mention how grateful everyone at Frontier is for Brett's hard work? Very.

Thanks Brett.

Format seems ok but the colour scheme is absolutely awful. Needs drastically toning down / returning to the previous colours.

Jumping from the elite dangerous main page (with its atmospheric black and oranges) into the forums has no continuity in terms of style / colour.

Have you tested all the themes?

I find the "Minimal Blackout" rather nice.

I agree on the "Official Elite theme" though...waaaaaay to red! Feels like a warning sign thrown up in your face!

Hi there,

the new forum iteration looks spiffy!

However my #1 gripe is that hyperlinks are hard to make out. Regardless which theme I select they are not underlined and blend too much with the text, often make me overlook referenced documents or articles.

Please make the hyperlinks stand out more. Either by underlining them again (effectively web standard) or at minimum use a stronger color.

For my argumentative support see these two links:

No, really, I can't find links in pages.

Question: Can you spot the three links?

(Saw this thread too late, already created a post)

I use this. I prefer. More familiar as you say

:)

Perfect.
It wasn't there when I was looking at the forums yesterday evening.

Does anyone know a way to get the forum breadcrumb trail at the bottom of the screen too ?
Clicking the Quick Nav at the bottom just brings up a menu. I would like the link back so i can go back to the forum the current thread I'm reading is in without having to scroll to the top, or click that top button. It used to be one click and it was done.

And whilst I'm thinking about it... Is there a way to make it default to advanced mode for all posts rather than the quick reply thing ?

I like this auto merge thing.
That's cool.

The background box that appears when you click on someone's name, in the forum thread list, needs to be much less transparent.
You can easily see the text underneath it and it makes it difficult to read what the pop up box is trying to tell you.
