Reply to thread should be directing your browser to the bottom of the page that shows the reply box, is it not doing that at all?

As a temporary work around, try double clicking the Reply to Thread and see if it pushes you to the older reply section.

Most do work but the spelling, capitalisation, and having no spaces between the colons and the other characters is critical. (They're shown here on the right with extra spaces, for obvious reasons.)

and the one you missed out

 : o

The exception is the shocked :O which I can't make work in any variant, but as it's basically the same as : eek : it's really not much of a loss. The surprise is the (much used on this forum!) : rolleyes :, which isn't on the right-hand pick list but does get translated by the editor.

Thank you very much for the explanations. I tried all and works well. Hope that we will find again, the list of smileys like in the old forum. To avoid typing the keyboard

I don't seem to be able to see the DDF archives any more; I was able to under the previous forums. Trying to visit links pointing to the DDF archive threads gives me "you are not permitted..." access failures. I backed to Alpha - should I be able to see them still? Have they been deliberately removed?

Edit: never mind, they've moved elsewhere, found them now! Though quite why DDF is considered "Off Topic" I'm not sure...

The DDF Archive is in the Off-Topic section now - and I see it here okay.

It's weird though that the archives have been moved to the off topic section. They are exclusively on the subject of Elite Dangerous, it seems to me

Indeed, and you'd think we'd want them to be prominently obvious to all comers, to pre-empt all those repeated questions and suggestions for features that are already discussed! Newcomers will never spot all that juicy info tucked away down there.

So something as seen from a recent newsletter like this? http://www.elitedangerous.com/extra/newsletter_2014_10_17/forum-web.jpg :)
I knew it looked familiar even as I was applying the brush :)

The yellower hue is definitely easier on the eyes. If the "Dangerous red" needs to be there as part of the brand identity, could it be used for the tiny link buttons such as the one after Originally posted by... while keeping "HUD orange" everywhere else? Or do formatting limitations mean it has to be one colour for everything?

Edit: never mind, I just found the "tempered" theme with its muted orange and mixture of blue buttons and red highlights. It's near perfect. Thank you!

Further edit: I just found the new version of "Elite Theme [Orange] [Constrained]" which is almost exactly what I had in mind. This one is perfect :D

Thanks for the info. This is getting fixed up as we speak.

Post counts and join dates won't be making a return to actual posts any longer. While i know people can click a username and view their profile to get that information... removing it directly from posts is a basic deterrent from people making arguments of "oh you joined this month, you must be an idiot!" or "I have so many posts, bow down to me because i know more!!". I may add them back when you click their user name, in that menu box however.

Fair enough, although I'm not sure if i've ever seen that argument used on these forum's.
It would still be interesting to see where people are from though, texas, bradford, upper mongolia for instance. i think little details like that add to the forum rather than detract from it.

by the way the orange theme is it for me, Ta

If you click the Reply or Reply With Quote button twice it takes you to the Advanced Post editor where some, but not all, of the smilies are in a clickable table on the right.

You can get to this same view by clicking Reply or Reply With Quote once then scrolling down and clicking Go Advanced, but the double-click is easier IMO.

I knew for the advanced mode (Mobius had indicated before). But for the double-click, it is excellent. Thank you again

Fantastic work so far guys. Well done on the new forums.
It's simply amazing to have such engaged, responsive and helpful Devs working on it.
If I had a hat I'd take it off to you.
Actually I'm going to get a hat right now and take it off to you.

Seconded.
Excellent stuff. I was wondering about this too.

Here's a weird one.
Just been using the [top] button to get back to the top of the thread.
It works the first time but then the code stays in the URL and so the button doesn't work again.
Replicate by scrolling down to the bottom, click the [top] button, thread goes to the top, scroll down to the bottom again, click the [top] button and there's no effect.
It's probably by design in that I can't think of a way to make it reset itself once you start to scroll down again. But I'm not a programmer.

Sorry if this has been asked many times, but how can I see other people's rep and my own ? I can't seem to find this anywhere.

Also, it's too bad that people's location doesn't show anymore when they post, I liked that feature.

Thanks Cody, but can I actually see the exact number of points for my own profile, as well as who repped me ? There was a panel for that before, now I can't find it.
