General / Off-Topic The Covid vaccine must be mandatory ?

It's a good idea, but how is Botswana going to make vaccines?
With or without patents, technologically challenged places cannot do it. They need supplies, chemicals, and biological components from the US and EU for instance - to even begin.
I suppose that if there is a suspension of intellectual property, accompanying measures will be created for these countries (manufacture of the vaccine by developed countries, dispatch of Western technicians, financing at very low rates, etc.).

AZ sells its vaccine for 2 euros. So it is also possible for more reliable alternative vaccines, at similar production prices.

😷

On the other hand waiting for 1.8 billion doses of Pfizer will unfortunately take 8 to 10 times more citizens with covid related blood clots than any vaccine could.
There will be no problem of speed.

The director of Pfizer said :

“We will significantly increase our deliveries to the EU in the coming weeks."

"This quarter, we will deliver four times more doses than in the first quarter, or 250 million doses, compared to 62 million. And we are in discussions to do more. I am convinced that we can do it ".

It's always better than AZ which doesn't deliver.

Nice to see you becoming pro-vaccine.
Thanks !

But no, I’m not pro-vaxxer, and I’m not anti-vaxxer.

Concerning Pfizer, and Moderna, I do not intend to take the vaccine immediately because there is no hindsight.

I aim for this goal in 2-3 years, if it is still necessary at that time.

If you survive that long 🤷‍♀️.

There's no reason not to survive. Thank you for worrying about my health (y)

There are approximately 7,760,000,000 inhabitants on the planet.

The epidemic has killed around 3 million people to date.

The ratio, Benefit: 7,760,000,000 --- Risk: 3,000,000 is largely in favor of benefit :sneaky:

(I grant you a few % of people vaccinated with one dose, and even less with two doses).

As you know, I'm not in the UK.

But I have to institutionalize my father tomorrow. He's unvaccinated, the entire building he's going to enter is unvaccinated, the staff there is unmasked(why is that?) , and we simply do not know if hospital cases will enter the compound in the same way as the UK. He'll be isolated for 7 days by their protocols.

So this back and forth is highly relevant to me.

I need to calculate the risks again. There is no easy answer.

It must be very worrying for you. It’s a shame that masks aren’t being used as they do seem to help stop people spreading it. Asia worked this out years ago (we had to reinvent that wheel here).

If the virus hasn’t gotten into your care homes yet then hopefully it never will. A lot more is known now about this now and you live on an island with a relatively low population. The UK has a high population density and a lot of older people.

EU will not renew orders for the vaccines from AstraZeneca and J&J.

The Commission wants to focus on mRNA vaccines, with a new order for 1.8 billion doses from Pfizer and BioNTech.

Tonight we can say that AZ and J&J's career in the EU is over.

Indeed the ridiculous slogan of the "Benefit / risk ratio" had no weight on the lucidity, common sense, prudence and intelligence of the majority of people.

Humans are not statistics.

Good. Now the rest of the world can speed up the vaccine program.

If spending 10x more on something that still doesn’t give you any “hindsight” makes you more likely to accept it then great. It’s ironic but whatever works 😂

I can’t help but think you’re being played like a flute.. A vaccine that is basically being given away free is being made out to be dangerous. For only 10x more (made in France eventually of course) you can have a “second generation vaccine”. 🤪

Personally, I do not intend for the moment to receive Pfizer, Moderna or other vaccines.

Not enough hindsight.

Astrazeneca :

The vaccination center dedicated this weekend to teachers and police officers was forced to close its doors in advance,

Vaccination “dedicated slots” have been open since April 17 in several vaccination centers for teachers and police officers over 55, as well as several other professions particularly exposed to Covid-19.

This new measure concerns teachers in schools, colleges and high schools, early childhood professionals, police and gendarmes, prison supervisors, specialist nursery school officers and accompanying children with disabilities , or around 400,000 people.

But this Saturday, in Nice (Alpes-Maritimes), the operation is far from having met with great success. Of the 4,000 doses of AstraZeneca vaccine planned this weekend at the vaccination center of the Palais des Expositions for priority people, only 50 could be administered, due to a lack of volunteers.

Anne Frackowiak-Jacobs, sub-prefect of Grasse, in the Alpes-Maritimes explains: “There are people who turned back when they learned that it was the Astrazeneca”.

The center of the Palais des Expositions in Nice is the only one dedicated this weekend to the vaccination of priority people throughout the Alpes-Maritimes department. It will remain closed this Sunday.

😷

At the beginning of April in France there were 9 new cases of thrombosis and two cases of bleeding disorders, with 4 deaths. Including digestive thrombosis.

But they weren't 20-40 year old young women. But people between 54-74 years old. Precisely the age group reserved for the Astrazeneca vaccine.

I take it none of them teach maths or science.

I take it none of them teach maths or science.
Of course they do science and maths

They find that scientifically, AZ causes severe cases and they also count the deaths done by AZ.

For math, they can also give lessons to AZ :

"We had ordered 120 million doses for the first quarter and 180 million for the second quarter. In the first quarter, AstraZeneca only delivered 30 million, which created problems that everyone saw and they only deliver 70 million in the second quarter "declared the European Commissioner.

The president of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen also argued this week that Pfizer Biontech has proven to be a reliable partner, who had honored its commitments and showed reactive to our needs.

Science and math are ruthless ...

This is the story of plane crashes, subway attacks, etc. The probability of being a victim is extremely low. This allows us to continue to take the plane, the subway.

Yet there are victims, and for them, it is not a question of probability, it is the passage from life to death, it is a bereaved family, it is a universe that collapses.

However, this individual risk / benefit balance must also be studied. Overall, doctors are right when they say that there is a much greater chance of getting infected with the virus than of having cerebral venous thrombosis from being vaccinated. there is no doubt.

But just because you are infected does not necessarily mean you will develop a severe form or even die from it, especially if you have no co-morbidities and are not too old. It would be intolerable, but we will never know it, to die of thrombosis from vaccination when we would not have died from covid-19 if we had not been vaccinated.

This last sentence can tip the balance in the other direction. we cannot pass by profit and loss, in the name of the common good, any death caused by the vaccination by AstraZeneca. We must try to understand why there are cases of thrombosis, if there are people "at risk" and then we can use the AstraZeneca vaccine differently than a Russian roulette.

So how long before France gives up on the vaccine, and sends supply out?
👉⌚
We're waiting.

On average, about 300 people/day are dying based on France's 7 day rolling average from Covid 19. Our total deaths are 150, since it started. So hey, we'll take that vaccine off your hands. Math, amIrite?

It's the story of utterly irrational and unreasoning fear. Revolvers have six chambers.
