Incomplete Reputation Rewards Towards Rank

Greetings Commanders.

I am grinding Federation Ranks through the old Sothis/Ceos route. Recently I have noticed that missions offered by Federation affiliated factions with high Rep reward (Example: Rep ++++), don't give the promised amount on completion but instead it offers half or just a fraction of the proposed reward.

This issue is present among Data delivery missions, cargo missions, salvage and even passenger missions.

Could this be a problem within the game? Or am I doing it wrong?
I fly these missions with an NPC crew member to protect my six during salvage missions.

How do you know what the rewards "should" have been?

The plusses aren't percentage points, they're... erm, units of reputation. As your rank increases, the reputation required for the next rank also increases, so the percentage earned by each mission decreases.

Rank are not linear aka 10000 per rank there based on multiplier per rank..
the higher the rank the more you have to do to get to it each time...
So if the first rank was 10 the next would be 100 then the next would be 1000 then 10,000 then 100,000.and then 1,000,000

Also if you don't see your "progress bar" moving, try waiting a bit or make a jump or log out into main menu and back. These things can take a while and the transaction server sometimes needs a little push to update your client.

ED likes you to screw over. It could be a UI bug, a wrong scale of progress display, a wrong detail of your progress detail, a bug with the progress mechanics, a bug with rep decay whathaveyou.
I once tried advancing progress with a month of regular mission running and the progress moved just low songle digit increment. Made maybe 5% tops. In a month. For some idiotuous Warden Officer or whatsitcalled.
FD thinks is great gameplay to figure stuff out yourself, so they make it as incomprehensible and unintuitive and let you figure out. And once you do they change it up completely and with the bugs you will rarely have an idea if you're actually doing it right or not.
And since ED players are suckers for space games they swallow the turd instead of looking for greener pastures, let's face it - the competition is usually very particular in interest - or even worse a turd.

Just one a couple of little observation(s)...

If for example you are looking to increase Fed rep then missions between fed minor-factions give the most change - if you are taking a mission from a fed to a neutral (or other than fed) minor faction (or vice versa) then you see a smaller effect.

.... also, as mentioned, the higher your rank which you are working towards, the less effect is seen. Something that gives 6% increase when you are lowly might only give 1% when you are in a rather exalted rank.

As of this moment, I had 4 missions with varied Rep amounts (Rep +++++ and Rep +++)
I noticed that missions between Fed Factions give complete Rep rewards as in if it had Rep ++++ and I was at 30%, the result would be 34%.
Other missions give lower Rep rewards when it is between a Fed Faction and a none-fed faction, like some of you have explained.

Data delivery missions still give 1% to 2% even if the mission reward was Rep ++

That is why I got suspicious about whether or not the rewards are bugged.

Consoles user don't have this function...
But we do get inara showing our ranks going up out side of game when we allow use of the Capi...

I don't have no text logs, nor journals, nor inaras. I just have the game and what it tells me.

Your rank progress is directly related to reputation increases from missions for superpower aligned factions (reputation decreases are ignored by the rank system, though not by the superpower reputation). This is why completing missions between two federation factions is the most impactful; they are contributing twice as much reputation.

I have seen no evidence that reputation rewards are in any way bugged at this time, but remember that not all plusses are equal. The plusses are a fuzzy system and so while ++ is always better than +, two missions with a single + may have slightly different true values.

As others have also noted, each rank requires considerably more reputation gained, so it will not be consistently visible between ranks.

Ranks are getting extended in Odyssey. I wonder if super power ranks are getting the same treatment. What's after King in the Empire, Supreme Ruler.
