PLEASE FRONTIER - I've been asking for YEARSSSSSS. Update blackholes!

Please. They are incredibly boring right now, its game-breaking.
A little bit of hyperbole, but it’s early so I’ll entertain. I quite like the ‘simple’ lensing effects, makes for some striking views when you find one in the right place but I can see how they’d disappoint some.
They are uninteresting, have no variation
I wouldn’t call them uninteresting but that’s personal opinion as previously stated, and any variation comes from the setting. I’ll concede that there’s little variation and nothing like active black holes with accretion discs, but I’d like to give the devs the benefit of the doubt and say that might be a terrible amount of work for the engine and stellar forge, but wouldn’t know for sure.
they don't eat nearby stars/planet matter, and are NOT dangerous
Hungry black holes are (probably to this layman) beyond the scope of the timeframes involved in the stellar forge. Once the forge has worked its magic the galaxy is essentially static; remember that ‘tomorrow’ in cosmic terms is still a very long way away! I’m not sure this sort of interaction is something that could be modelled in a real-time fashion believably. Your second point is unarguable, but that’s possibly an artefact of the ‘buff/nerf’ merry go round 😂 dangerous black holes would be fun up until some poor explorer lost everything unexpectedly flying too close to one and came here screaming about it being unfair. Maybe some tidal effects in close proximity, like the neutron boosting wobble and the chance for module damage would make them seem more imposing.

I’m not arguing they’re not disappointing, but they’re very far from game breaking.

Danger is a sliding scale, and on a scale of 0 to 10, E:D black holes are at 0. Lets put it at 5 as a compromise. Tidal effects, actual destruction possible for those travelers who purposefully fly at the singularity, accretion discs, that in themselves are dangerous in the form of heat, like a stars surface, etc etc.

The more CMDRs ask for something, the less likely it is FD will do it. We ought to start lampooning things we secretly desire.
i don't agree with your logic. The squeaky wheel gets the grease. Any developer that loves its game and wants its community to prosper will listen to their community when feasible.

They should use the scooping mechanism on black holes.

Instead of fuel, you get "research data", but if you get too close, or overheat then you drop down to realspace like you do when you mess up a neutron boost so you're 95% likely to die.

If you die, your internet connection is permanently deleted so I don't have to read your whining on this forum or Reddit.

Research data is worth "loads", there's a new special Black Hole research engineer that can help you amend your scanners/armour your ship to do it better.

Could also include other rare stellar phenomena for a reduced cost.

There we go, gameplay loop that is sensible, good balance of risk and reward that will never happen.

Do I win £5?

They are incredibly boring right now, its game-breaking. They are uninteresting, have no variation, they don't eat nearby stars/planet matter, and are NOT dangerous. PLEASE PLEASE FIX THIS.

So what you want is the ''Hollywood comic book movie'' version of black holes, and not anything that resembles what black holes actually are. Hah, no thank you.

Spoiler: Black holes are actually pretty boring IRL, too. It's actually a myth that black holes go around eating anything nearby. You also need to get VERY close to one to feel its effects, otherwise it acts like any other object in space. Less Netflix, more textbooks pls.

PLEASE FRONTIER: keep black holes how they are. Thanks.

It would be nice if they had more spin and there was a real risk of getting trapped, as the ship slowly degrades as it is sucked into the center. Why not, create a suction animation going through the different layers of the black hole, representing the madness that would be seen in free fall towards the singularity.

Even if the accretion disk exists, visible or not, it should affect and heat the spaces of the ship.

I agree with the OP on this subject. Remember neutron stars? Tiny little white ball spinning and just knocking you out of SC if you got too close. It was best just to scan and then avoid them.

Now, of course, we enjoy neutron highways for FSD boosts. So why not something like that for black holes? Give me a prize but make it RISKY to get that prize.
