Horizons/Odyssey Compatibility - Further Details

What about people who own mutliple accounts / copies of the game - e.g. some from the free Epic release, on Steam or from the original basic launcher (direct to Frontier). Can you run Odyssey (i.e. buy it) on some of the accounts and not others? Or would the computer throw a wobbly at having different versions on the same machine?

So, what about those loyal players who can't afford to upgrade their PC's which have been happily running Horizons up to Odysey's release?

Maybe I want to drive my srv around an atmospheric world! 😉

They keep playing Horizons. The client is effectively unchanged. (They might need some small patch to deal with any server changes, but nothing major is being touched.)
So then in essence FDev have betrayed a huge portion of the community who do not have the money to play the Odyssey expansion.
We are in worldwide recession , money is short, GPUs and Pcs are super expensive. It could be seen as elitist, no pun intended of course.

@FDEV... Can we remove the Horizons files when We upgrade to Odyssey? I'm getting low on space here, and I won't be using Horizons anyhow.

It could also be seen as FDev being forced to obey the laws of physics. If the expansion doesn’t run on an old computer, it won’t.

Maybe the system specs can be reduced over time, but Odyssey itself may never run on a Horizons min spec machine.

I started out playing on Mac. The Mac client died because Apple refused to support the upgrade in graphics software Fdev needed for Horizons. We were hosed, but I understood that the game needed to move forward and those that could would benefit from the new graphics and content. This is no different. The game has to move forward to keep players engaged and keep cash coming into the business. Without that cash, the game will have to fold because there is no way to keep this all going for free. This is the way.

I do have a legit concern as an American player who does 'not' follow the PEGI rating but instead the ESRB. At least let the USA cmdrs ride srvs on atmospheric worlds. I feel like fdevs are money grubbing me for access on ps4. And how can it even work when Oddysey requires an An Ryzen 5? Ps5 anyone?

Those of us on PC who love to wing up together, find spontaneous organic interaction, do organized PvP, or are into group anti-xeno combat are then probably mostly going to be in Horizons. Excluding friends from gameplay due to system requirements or other financial issues is for most of us, beyond odious.

what

After the Console Launch, will Horizons players be forced into the graphical improvements? I won't be able to run the new stuff and am concerned I won't be able to play at all if the improvements to Horizons are not optional.

Quick questions when horizons get the graphics upgrade will the minimum spec change in line of not will odyssey be optimised further the real minimum spec lower than the current?
