New galaxy map is broken!

It is completely incomprehensible to me why it was necessary to spoil an adequate and good interface with dubious and inconvenient solutions.
The person who did this never flew long distances or did not play the game at all ...

Now it is impossible to see who is the discoverer of the star. What is this nonsense? Why was it removed?
Route settings are reset after every restart of the game, but this is not the worst thing. It is no longer possible to plot a route through neutron stars.
If the proper distance is FSD overcharged, the map will still write that it is impossible to build a route ...

And it is completely unclear who will fix it and when.

I see that they have really done a number on the exploration community! Soooo glad I walked away from EDO!

!00% Agree, I won't bother with more exploration having just got back from a sprint reccy in the Formadine rift, I can confirm that exploration is painful compared to the early Horizons update version. It is quite obvious that no one at Frontier is an explorer or if indeed anyone has played at all.

For real plus on top of it the system map lighting is broken so you cant even see the surfaces of the planets you scanned that well.

Also from the system map a large chunk of info simply disappeared? Did you guys seriously think it's not important? The black scroll bar info on the left was way better for system map compared to this compartmentalised abomination. Now I have to spend way more time on system map to get useful info I need and some of it isn't even there anymore.

Where' s the station/carrier access information for example? Notorious commanders/Squadron/Friends? It's gone...

The galmap I can live with. It's poor compared to the horizons version, but it's useable (just). It takes more input to do things, but it's not impossible. The most annoying thing is that you can't hide the jump lines, you can only toggle between economical and fast.

The sysmap is a different story, it's just horrendous.

Yeah... I don't get how they could revamp the whole thing, apparently for ease of use, but give it an interface for smartphone games and didn't take the time to export all the features the old version had.
I mean, if you like the new map or not, functionality should rather be extended than cut back.

Another thing we also can't see anymore, is the name of friends on the map. There is an icon, but it doesn't say who it is.

This isn't even including the UI problems. they've been in the game since the map launched and they're even worse now but frontier refuses to fix the issue. Anyone with a screen larger than 16:9, the ui appears in the wrong location relative to the system or planet you target, making it really hard to actually use the map at all.

Not having any trouble with my screen, since it's not that big, but I'd love to have hotkeys for opening the system map of the targeted star, plot route, open info panel and so on. Would also help with misplaced buttons.

Not to mention say if you change what stars you want your route to plot through instead of it automaticly plotting the new route for you you have to go to the system you plotted the route for and redo it each time you change what star classes you want your route to use. This new UI is really bad.
This is not entirely true. While the rerouting is indeed not automatic, you do not have to reselect your target. Instead, go down to the route setting options (second from bottom, on left), and hit "recalculate route". IMO, the non-automatic recalculation is a plus, as it means you can tweak settings before recalculating, or even temporarily set them to check local stars.

Ok, you do also have to change routing mode to get the recalculate option, but you can always set it back.

Actually, just changing neutron boost mode is sufficient.

It's a thing that effects larger aspect ratios. It was there in the pre-odyssey map too but now it's even harder to use

Ok, I take back what I said about the galmap being useable.

I've just tried to plot a route to my home station.

Horizon:
Open map
Open bookmark
Select station and 'plot' from dropdown menu
Close map

Odyssey:
Open map
Open bookmarks
Open Manage Bookmarks <- Why?
Open Stations
Select target station
Select 'plot route'
Close target station
Close stations
Close bookmarks
Finally, close galmap
Scream! 🤬

Why would you be using a smartphone with an aspect ratio beyond 16:9 though? :D

Surely making it work from Odyssey is a two-step process:
Close Odyssey
Open Horizons

I noticed that I couldn’t see discovered by tags in the system I was in, it didn’t click that this was “missing information” as I thought I needed to ping the DSS or something. Yes, I definitely do not like the map changes. It feels totally unnecessary, they didn’t change it to make room for something new, they just changed it. I thought I’d get used to it but I still don’t like it after release.
On a positive note, I tried routing to a bookmark in a very dense star area and it selected exactly the right star. I wonder if some of the changes were meant to address the finicky-ness of selecting stars? I’m sure I’ll get used to the new layout in time, but the new interface does have some big drawbacks that make it impossible to love.
