So let me get this straight. I'm 31K Ly away from the bubble, on an airless moon in an undiscovered system...and there's this??? lol

Unfortunately, I'm playing my alt and I left the bubble before Odyssey dropped so all I have is the pilot suit and training pistol. D'Oh.

Yep - better watch yourself out there, it's dangerous ! you might be looking a panel on a burnt out SRV wondering how the hell you're suppose to cut it open with no Mavarick suit - when a Vulture will appear from no where with a bunch of heavily armed Scavengers. Fly safe and avoid POI's until you can actually do something at them and defend yourself.

Yes, sadly there are wrecks and garbage all over the "Odyssey" galaxy. So you can find a pristine system anywhere in the galaxy, one that's never been visited before, has no discovery tags etc, yet the worlds there will be covered with human wreckage. I guess the excuse will be that that "explorer" never got back home alive to sell their data, hence no system tags ;)

Didn't we have this kind of issue during Horizons launch too? I seem to recall people finding junk all over the galaxy until frontier got around to fixing it.

I'm actually kind of curious about the two "unlisted" POI showing on the panel. An unknown Guardian site? New, undiscovered alien species? Wrecked generation ship?

Nah, just a nav beacon :D

On a more serious note, i kinda like that there are things out there.
Well this might be a little excessive, but we shouldn't feel like we are the only pilot gone out there, they just might have to tune it a bit down

They did the same thing in Horizons to begin with (crap strewn everywhere in the galaxy). Nice to know FD learn from their mistakes. :D

I suspect they'll get round to clearing it up at some point.

Yeah...honestly? I thought it was weird just seeing these out in Synuefe, in unpopulated space. Crash sites galore out in the middle of nowhere. Elite has always had this funniness though. Like Condor crash sites out in random systems in Odin's Hold, or whatever you happen to be exploring. It's like, "Nuhh uhh...I was the first person to discover this system, you d**k! You're not taking this from me, ship launched fighter!"

Part of me thinks that since Thargoids can jump pretty much anywhere on demand, and navigate Witchspace as if it were a place (actually, it is thought to be, in Elite lore), I think they do this as a sort of prank. They take random human wreckage and stage them on random bodies so we'll be confused." Kind of like how the Devil did with Dinosaur bones, I mean, am I right? Bwahaha!

I think how it works is probably an extension of some heat map generated by Stellar Forge based off our commanders travels. One thing they dont make clear, but they should, is that we are commanders flying in what is known as the Pilots Federation, or something. When we do first footfalls and discoveries, it's within that organization only. That's how I've seen it for the past few years, under the premise that if I am able to fly to any destination, then chances are a few have already. If I end up with first discovery, how can a tourist ship be flying through as well? Well, maybe they're in the top 1% of tourist captains empire, but they definitely aren't in the Pilots Federation.

This happens in our societies already. I saw an excerpt about an ancient place in Thailand, and the first explorer to find it was lead there by a 10 year old child. But the explorer is the cat that gets the acknowledgement. what honestly? lol That child, plus the elders of the tribe he was in, didnt find it? Christopher Columbus discovered America? As well as discovering the peoples already there? Err, so, spot on, more like.

I believe that is the case: something inadvertently left out of the algorithm. I don't think it was done on purpose, but it's a pretty gross oversight.

A bit similar to the other bug that caused multiple collisions upon bumping on something, causing instant destruction.

I think you're right. I haven't submitted a ticket, but will do. It's pretty much the death of exploration.

Edit: checked the Issue tracker and found this.

https://issues.frontierstore.net/issue-detail/31933

basically, it was shut down as invalid.

I've opened a new one, if anyone wants to contribute.

You should add the info to the issue linked in the other thread. I strongly believe this is a bug we can get fixed.
