Someone shared a reddit post with me yesterday, from a CMDR who was offering huge profits to offload his fleet carrier. I saw multiple posts like this and thought that they were selling perhaps because the market has gone in to turmoil. This morning I heard about the duplication bug in Odyssey where cargo from your ship is duplicated in your FC.

The reddit post was almost certainly a CMDR exploiting that. Looking on reddit now I get the feeling that a lot of people are jumping on this...and new commanders who think they’re being offered hauling opportunities are bound to accept.

What are peoples thoughts? Will Fdev take the profits back from people who exploit this? Is that even possible if so many people jump on board?

People have been banned for this kind of thing, have they not?


edit - One more question; is the duplication of stock causing the current market crash?

Of course the money will be removed and the outcry will be almost as big as the Odyssey disaster itself. It is just taking away precious Dev time wich could be used to fix bugs or give us our FPS back.

It is. It's also incredibly easy to do. Not sharing tho.

Also, on reddit some people are exploiting the fact that some carrier exploit the bug (double exploit ? Exploit ² ?), by doing fake mission. They advertise for 200k profit, but it's a 200k loss.

Looking on Reddit there seems to be a lot of new commanders being used to sell the cargo. Hopefully someone with experience of other exploits that have happened in the past can warn against cmdr’s getting involved. If Fdev are likely to catch up with this and take the credits away, or ban people, it’s something to be avoided.

Well, technically speaking, a CMDR trading with an exploiter can be legitimately innocent. He saw a good offer and took it.
That's the issue with exploits, they ruin the market, and the longer is stays, the more it spreads.

Well, There is a chance dupers will have their credits removed... (might not happen given the troubled launch and the generated turmoil)

However, i would advise the dupers to fire their SLF crews before engaging in shady businesses 😂

"Unfortunately" I don't have a FC, but I would like the gamma levels to be fixed, my free camera to work in VR, some TLC to the star prominences and throw in some culling to get the fps up. Thanks for the tip though :)(y)

Well, they will remove the grand total, so the 10% difference will be supported from the CMDR wallet.

More specifically:
CMDR has 2 billions. He exploits 10 billions using the carrier dupe. Crew gets 1 bn (10% share) and the CMDR gets 9 bn.
FD will remove 10 billions :cool:

And the CMDR will remain with only 1 bn after his foray in the shady carrier businesses :D

Seems like some cmdr’s are making money from it, but be aware it’s likely to be seen as cheating. It could come back to bite people.
I decided to stay with Horizons so my graphics are looking good again.
