New Planet Tech is KILLER of Exploration (all terrain is tiling/repeating/not procedural/random)

Yep, when I see a post which you can reduce to:

"look, there is a planet that looks worse in Odyssey then Horizons
ergo
planetS look worse in Odyssey then Horizons"

I become "a bit" suspicious.
Yes, but finding repeating patterns on ONE planet strongly suggest a rather limited tileset.

Its just the same open letter posters so I turn a blind eye but I did get sucked in when they branched off into other threads I play the new dlc and can say they dont know what they talk of

I've posted this before so forgive me but since it is relevant to the post :)

It's a clear downgrade here. Like the ridges in Horizons compared to even the best of my Odyssey worlds still had sharper edges. I guess that's because they were made with maths?

Yep, SOMETIMES Odyssey game does not generate ground details at all, only some blurred mess.
Yes, which is why it need to be acknowledged and fixed. The lod is absolutely poor quality, and buggy. The ground itself, when it works, it absolutely gorgeous. And it's sad, and no matter where you are standing right now, we all want the game to be at his best.
Did you even check my post that BlackMaze replied to? That is not Buggy LOD, when the base is half sunk into the bloody planet at an angle, and hills hover over the terrain.
There is terrain clipping at times (I had floating rocks inside landing pads twice). But a poor lod can also do terrain clipping (lod is more than a texture it's also a mesh).

Or that reusing the same pattern is a bug that impacts rendering of this specific planet.

Otherwise we would have hundreds of such screenshots instantly after release.

True what? Tha this is a BUG that ppl experience with lower than minimum systems requirements? Sure. And OP represents it as REAL graphics. This is a false info.
I have that at max settings. Stop being an ostrich with your head in the sand and face the truth. We all want the game to be better. Sweeping the issue under the rugs doesn't help, just like going "DEVS ARE BAD PEOPLE".

Well, it's combined with texture issues which makes things look FAR worse. People will cherry pick the very worst screens, which I find to be counter-productive (indeed the mirror of people who pick the very best, including game producers).

It is importantly to show an average of how things generally look, and the answer I find is very mixed.

I'll bring up again the 'not directly noticing' the repeating tiles point. It doesn't even matter if it needs to be pointed out, because the effects it has on players and exploration will be felt. I mean maybe if they introduced a WHOLE lot of new tiles it might help a lot-- but really I would've thought the 'building blocks' should be much smaller in scale and the randomness is in slotting them together in unique patterns. At the moment it looks more like a magic copy brush pasting an ENTIRE region randomly on the same surface.

Uniqueness of planets is so crucial in this game, and it's astonishing that such obvious repetition has been used.

Another thing I wish people wouldn't do is go down the road of "They got lazy" or "It's all about money and they don't care." Well, it was a design choice, it wasn't lazy. It is a company, and as such money obviously plays a central role, but are they really actively trying to rob you like some kind of villains? I don't think so-- even if it is do you think that's true of the developers and most of the staff? People need to stop with the personal incriminations and stick to the criticisms of the systems and development choices.

Settings doesnt matter, if youre low on vram the engine make it look like total crap. Im playing on ultras and never had such lod bug. Maybe because my gpu has 8 gb of vram.

max you say?

Funny(not really) fact:
the highest "ultraforcecapture" setting is the one that triggers most glitches in planet surface rendering in my experience.
I have 2070s 8GB and my GPU RAM is not maxed when it happens.

I've been following this for a while, and I think the primary issue looks like it might be insufficient range of primitive assets - that could be a procedural bug (edge cases for a small number of planets) or it could be that there's just not a large enough range of primitives available (which means an asset pack patch). You need a large number of predesigned 'tiles' to make a natural looking variation (even with scale/rotation variation). People are REALLY good at spotting repetition of patterns.

I have 16gb. Both ram and GPU. So, no ?

Considering the amount of screenshots, it's wdiespread. But hey, it's better to deny the issue and pretends all it's fine, right ?

I don't use ultraforcapture. I already have FPS drops to the 30 in CZ, and below when there is a fire/spark.

Yes and Blackmaze has 11GB as he said, so by what logic of yours has he less then you? Just asking, because I'm pretty sure 11 > 8.
