Has the hysteria died down yet?

Sadly lots but it seems to skip some people, u are one of the lucky ones!!
How do you know though? Because 200 of the same people posted on here? How many people bought Odyssey and are playing it? We have 2700 negative reviews on Steam, yeah the 68% is pretty huge, but many people don't review games. I only did because I came here and saw that it was negative, and wasn't experiencing anything, and very satisfied with the game.

You're asking me how i know that lots of people have had problems? Really

I've not had any problems playing Odyssey, but I won't diminish the problems faced by countless others. From what I understand there are specific hardware combinations where the problems arise (though my information might be out of date).

"I've not had any problems playing Odyssey". Figured as much.

You know what, I've trained my lungs to stay under water for up to 3 minutes. What I do NOT do is call everyone out at the public swimming pool for being lousy divers.

The only threadstarters on this subject; "I don't get why you're so upset bla bla..." is you and another dude. None of which have performance problems with EDO.

Empathic Intelligence goes a long way.

While I will admit the release of Odyssey was, it's fair to say, botched. The fact that David Braben made a public apology within twenty four hours of the launch, and the fact there have been multiple patches and updates since show a determination to make things right on Frontier's part.

I have to say though I was rolling my eyes throughout the first few days. The reaction, and especially the reviews posted by people on Steam really do demonstrate how unbelievably stupid people can be. I mean, I sometimes wonder how people this thick are able to stand upright and feed themselves

As an example, the "immediate reaction" of these people was "Odyssey is broken, it's unplayable, and this is clearly what the game is, what it was intended to be, and what it always will be". All this no more than 48 hours after the launch when patches and updates were already incoming, and Frontier had acknowledged the problems.

But no, this is just what Odyssey was and clearly it was never going to be fixed, and so the thick gobby brigade posted their reviews and messages. It's quite pathetic really. Has it died down yet, as I very quickly switched off so I could read something intelligent instead :cautious:
The game IS unplayable in VR (unless you like motion sickness and headaches). Stop gaslighting valid concerns.

Oh! The selective edit, the third rabbit hole you should never go down. Quoting me as saying "I've not had any problems playing Odyssey" but completely forgetting to add that just one word later I said "but I won't diminish the problems faced by countless others."

You know that big wooden thing at the end of your hallway that opens inwards... it leads to exciting places you know ;) :D

It was an odd introduction - initially PCVR was very good, but stuttering, a bit of winding down made it more reliable, but at the cost of lack of sharpness. Criticisms aside, the implementation is fine, certainly at least as good as a few of the 'dedicated' VR titles I have! ;) (But still, HL: Alyx holds the crown currently!)
I shall have to go back and check scanner zoom in VR now, grrr! 😤
I still can't get into NMS VR with my 1080. I either have terrible performance or a fuzzy view. It's a shame, because most of the control choices (say, tapping your head for the scanner) were pretty great. When the 3080 I ordered on launch day arrives in a couple of years I will give it another go! Flat screen, it really is a good game now, though.

My best picks are still Alyx for roomscale and E:D for seated. Horizons was a wonderfully optimised VR title, which makes the lack of VR in Odyssey a little sad.

Oh right, well if it's borked in all the in-ship stuff in Odyssey too that's a crock :(
I haven't tried VR odyssey since the patch. However outside of VR I am able to put most settings at nor near max with a 2080super/3600x. When before the patch it was way worse. It seems everyone's mileage differs when it comes to performance atm.

I have played it, but I'm one of the lucky ones who's had no real issues. I'm just disheartened by the fact that people have to post their immediate reaction as reviews of the game, less than two or three days after release. Yes, it was botched, but does that justify posting a very permanent and very negative review online? How many of these dumbasses are going to update their reviews when Odyssey does improve? Probably only a single figure percentage I'd guess. How does that help the game and the player community? :cautious:

People are entitled to provide a review as soon as they hand over money for a “finished” product. Simple as that.

Yes I know.. but they're also entitled to make spurious claims and even state outright lies in those reviews too because nothing is ever checked and there's no oversight. Those lies can also stay on the Internet in perpetuity in the name of "freedom of speech" and it's all done because the wrong sort of people say it's their legitimate and heartfelt opinion. These people hurt democracy, they hurt the Internet, they hurt freedom of speech and they hurt all of the rest of us in the process. If anybody doesn't think that's worth challenging, they can go and talk to someone else.

Those tiny minority are easily drowned out by the more rational majority... it's OK OP, they can't hurt you.. no really they can't, there's only like 3 of them anyway!

The only problem is that after all the issues and sorted and things will have settled down, the vast majority of those negative reviews will still be there, with Frontier unable to have recourse :( that hurts both the game and the current player base.

Then maybe Frontier should have made sure and taken care to release a more finished product before asking people to fork over a significant amount of $$ for a DLC. Accountability and all that.

Besides, if people are really thrilled with the product they can also change their reviews.
