Mighty Jingles: EDO is grindy, buggy and confusing

Hiding and cover isn't the issue-- That can be fun in fast paced games--Halo was a fast paced game with a quick shield recharge--Halo had cover built into the maps-this was well thought out--the combat was based specifically around the few maps they had--it was tested and tweaked constantly--the maps weren't procedurally generated encounters like elite--Shield regen also had an iconic sound-you knew when your shields were up and ready to go- You're also talking about a console game that came out 100 years ago.

Man, you started with "g1 is useless" and then it's unfun gameplay when someone posts a video of how it's done, then the shield regen sucks cuz hidin' ain't fun and now hiding ain't the issue either.

You're so full of biowaste that taking you as a passenger to a station would give the controlling faction outbreak. Thread unfollowed.

Now THOSE are mental gymnastics!

g1 is useless- not fun for a beginner.
Video- showcased running away until your shields come up mechanic-unfun
Shield regen- is an old mechanic not inline with the way ships work in the game (no pip management or cell banks).
hiding still an issue-not what we were discussing.(gears of war-tom clancy lets you interact with cover-fun, active mechanic)

If you find this fun, that's good for you, my opinion shouldn't matter. Not sure why you're commenting on this thread? My point is this is not advancing the game at all.

It's really not, avoiding being hit is part of any FPS--its usually designed into most shooters--its impossible to design into a procedurally generated planet encounter--so you get alot of random running around not knowing if you are behind cover or not.

Firstly, I could personally program it into a procedurally generated planetary encounter and I'm VERY amateur at coding.

Secondly, I Had zero issue using cover as desired in my matches.

This set gets a much lower score, serious choke here.

As every amateur programmer knows procedural generation is one of the easiest things to pull off perfectly so thanks for chiming in on that subject.. I can tell by your posts you don't have a creative bone in your body so I believe you when you say you can program cover into an encounter. No guarantees what it will look like or if it will make any sense, but you can do it.
That's cool that you found cover! Good for you! Not really my point.

I don't really understand your argument--I have no gatekeeping authority on others opinions, what you read was my opinion.

If you want this game to survive it has to be appealing somehow to players with less time-

Yeah you post stuff like the below, someone who has a different option to you must be flawed in some way as a person. Pull your head in.

Lol I never said it'd be pretty and it sure as hell wouldn't be proprietary but it would operate.

Get back to me when you remember your point I guess.

What happened to the first taste is free? I think that they should have stuck with 5 levels/grades and made the first level very easy just to demonstrate the mechanic. With ship engineering, I think you can do something with like 1 iron or something equally trivial. When I opened the first ground engineer I was greeted with a list of material requirements I had not even seen yet.

As you can see, I was well short of the required material. I still don't have the material for this upgrade but I may have enough to trade for it as I have about half of my storage filled at this point. This kind of led to my second question. Is it worth it to upgrade my level two suit? I'm not sure, I haven't been able to interact with the engineer to know if I can remove this upgrade to use if I stumble upon a grade 3? Can I overwrite it if something better is available? Feels like an expensive gamble right now. The new tutorial for missions was awesome. Would love to see something like that on the first engineer.

Talking big in the forums about how skilled you are at a weak FPS where your main advantage is finger dexterity doesn't make you look like you think it makes you look.
I didn't say anything about how good I am at the game. With that said, I'm almost certain your approach to combat is misplaced.
No self respecting FPS enthusiast would say this gameplay is good, or fun.
I didn't. This is also the "no true Scotsman" fallacy. What is a "self-respecting FPS enthusiast"? Are they allowed to have self-image issues? I'm conflicted.

Regardless, that's two fallacies in a single sentence. I'm impressed.
There's no way you can go up against 5 AI throwing grenades in G1 gear without alot of unfun gameplay, if you can, show me a sweet video superstar. All your cool dude forum talk is just talk until then.
Weird hill to choose to die on, but OK.

Why don't you upload a video of you failing to demonstrate basic competence at the game, and we can tell you where you went wrong?

I have no energy for you guys anymore. You implied I was bad at the game, I'm not, I'm trying to play a game--I don't find the FPS intuitive, fun or immersive. It's my opinion, I can defend it, you don't have to worry about it. You can go to sleep tonight knowing that your FPS gameplay will still be there in the morning.

Not sure why you're so excited about the 'self-respecting fps enthusiast' line, it's like you're breaking down sarcasm in real time. Thanks for finally understanding it.

The video is amazing, great job, I was going to drop 'yakety sax' down as the underscore and reupload but I can't be bothered.

It showcases some of the annoyances of the gameplay, the fact you can just sneak up behind someone in broad daylight just by crouching is comical.

You're in a settlement, its easier to find cover, irregular markers and whatnot are what I was referring to. It's harder to get away from multiple sharp shooters.
Bottom line is it didn't meet my expectations.

Your opinion seems to shift depending on which part has been shot through.

Ha! "I didn't mean it that way..." the last resort of the guy whose balloon just got shot.

You shouldn't bother. Seriously. You're not only wasting your own time, but everyone else's.

No true Scotsman...

No true video...

Moving the goalposts is why you're getting tired. Goalposts are heavy. They're meant to stay in one place.
Bottom line is it didn't meet my expectations.
I think it's pretty clear by now that your expectations are entirely defined by what is most expedient to your (futile) attempt to defend whatever misconceptions you had when you got here.

No true, self-respecting, Scottish, goalpost-moving, not-good-at-pointing-a-mouse, quality FPS-playing moonman would, or indeed should listen to anything you have to say.

Have a good evening.

Agreed. Like ship engineering, the 1st or 2nd upgrade should be made less demanding to ease players into the feature. Then a medium bump for 3rd upgrade and a bigger increase for the min-maxers who want to have the best gear.
