@David Braben , @Kay Ross , @Arthur Tolmie

The ONLY thing 99% players want from you now - f***ing stable 60FPS like in horizons.
And you absolutely not even give us a point about it

Guys, seriously... When i've bought Horizons - it was amazing and smooth. And you earn my trust for it.
Now you loose it. I've expected performance decrease but it's just broken.
I've played EDH 1440p x1.25 on Ultra at smooth 60 FPS ALL THE TIME!!!!
In EDO i cant even get stable 60 on 1080p NOT MATTER OF SETTINGS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

CAN YOU JUST GIVE US STABLE 60 FPS FOR THE GOD SAKE!!!!!!!!!!!.....
Not meaning to break your fit of... whatever this is, but it might not be as simple as pushing the 60fps button and go.

They won't now the full details until the patch goes live, as they won't know how much they can squeeze into each patch until closer to release. I don't get why people think they will have detailed landscape of each patch. That's never going to happen. They've given us a broad stroke of what they have planned, expecting anything else is just foolish in my view.
Indeed, they don't know how it's going to turn out. What they do know, or at least should have a thread of at this point, is what's working as intended and not working as intended. They need to start with communicating that information.

Finally, we would also like to address the topic of communication. We are aware that many of you have been asking about greater communication, visibility and a change on how we share and update Elite Dangerous moving forward. While we do always try to give as clear a vision for the future as possible, such as Horizons or Beyond season roadmaps, we also must accept that this alone has not hit the mark. Our community have always been the beating heart of Elite Dangerous and we take the feedback very seriously. We are going to be working on new plans and initiatives that we can do to bring you even more in touch with our development progress. Starting with a monthly community update, we will highlight and share the progress that the development team have been making over that month. We will be sharing more details around this, and other initiatives, over the coming weeks.

Once again, we would like to thank you all for your patience, understanding and support as we continue to work hard to unlock the great potential of Odyssey for all Commanders.

My two cents,

Since I've been involved with Frontier back during the development phase of ED I noticed as we neared final release a lack of clarification, people weren't aware if the gamma was the final release with all content with some held back for 1.0 or not. Frontier was tight-lipped.

There was a decision to not give the promised Offline mode and the news of the lack of that mode was held back until shortly before launch.

With the Multicrew engineering mode was dropped and not announced until shortly before launch. Fleet Carriers were held back, Beyond's Planet Tech was moved to Odyssey. Power Play was developed, a system that nobody really asked for or wanted (even if some of us did embrace it).

I think that at every turn, Frontier has taken the wrong lessons from these experiences. What Frontier has done is share something early on, then keep us out of the loop on development until the cycle is almost complete, then inform us of the reduced scope and then they sit back and wonder why we're mad. What this has done is tend to make Frontier MORE tight-lipped rather than less.

Frontier shouldn't let the community decide on the development, what we want isn't always what'd make for a good game. But perhaps we should be brought closer to the development cycle, keep your secrets and the nice twists and turns you sometimes throw up (the Thargoids introduction was wonderfully done) but do bring us closer as to what's planned, what you'd like to do, where you see things going in 6 months, a year, two years, 5 years down the line. And then keep us abreast as to what's changed and why. We're not that bad when we're engaged with. But we don't feel like we're appreciated only managed.

I in no way hold the Community Team responsible for this, and it's clear they're operating on orders from above to keep mum and feel they do a great job in difficult circumstances. All of them (Zac, Arthur and Sally especially) have impressed me over this difficult month.

"we feel the best approach for all our Commanders will be to focus our development efforts after Update 5 on performance and the console release"

This will destroy the game, waiting this long to fix the primary issue should be unacceptable to EVERYONE. Sad that we even have to be here as all this should have never happened.
Frontier should now be issing 50% refund for this Beta and now proven UNFINISHED Update.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Greetings Commanders,

As mentioned in David’s forum post on 25th May, we would like to share our immediate roadmap for Odyssey and talk a little more about performance and improvements as we move towards the console release later this year.

We’d like to take a moment to thank everyone for their patience and understanding while we review your reports and feedback. We’ve been working hard to address critical issues - Update 2 went live yesterday, which followed Update 1, the previous 2 hotfix updates and server and stability fixes deployed in May. We have been seeing some awesome content shining through from Odyssey, but we know there’s still work to be done to make the experience as good as it can and to further address feedback.

To that end, here’s a short summary of our immediate roadmap of updates and the key focuses within them.

  • Update 3 – Thursday 10th June
    • Many improvements and fixes, including
    • Loadout UI flow changes
    • Adding earned ARX for on-foot gameplay
  • Update 4 – Thursday 17th June
    • Many improvements and fixes, including
    • Suit Livery UI flow changes
    • Codex CMDR stats
  • Update 5 – Thursday 24th June
    • Many improvements and fixes, including
    • Shared missions
    • Galaxy & system map UI updates
    • Outfitting UI updates
Each of Updates 3 to 5 will be of a similar size to Updates 1 and 2, and contain fixes and enhancements to the overall Odyssey player experience, including incremental performance issues for specific circumstances and/or system configurations.

Planetary geometry and lighting is a topic that we know is close to the hearts of many of our explorers, and is something we are looking carefully at. We will of course, continue to update you over the coming weeks as those investigations progress.

While we are expecting to see specific and targeted performance improvements in the upcoming June updates, we are also aware that development work for console will allow for even larger performance optimisations and enhancements for PC too. Therefore, we feel the best approach for all our Commanders will be to focus our development efforts after Update 5 on performance and the console release, and to bring our multi-platform community together once more, which will also allow us to bring even more global optimisation changes and updates to all Elite Dangerous Commanders.
