ANNOUNCEMENT Elite Dangerous | Odyssey: Roadmap

The thing is, FD could have avoided nearly all the UI issues if they had actually asked the forum if the design they had worked at the planning stage.

Sorry, but asked what?

You mean, if they had discussed the design early on?

That might be true, but again, not guaranteed. Many people want many different things and all...

They may have their reasons to act like that, we can only guess if they are good or bad.

And you know what is also extremely "funny" in this whole one sided discussion that we all are having on this post. That I'll again point out that it's completely one sided and will not even be reviewed by anyone in the stuff or development until Monday and that's at the very best of things!!!

Hopefully with the increased communications, Console players will get a mention. Remember they've been in the dark since the delay was announced, and now it appears that PC bug fix is delaying further console development until Update 5.

Well yes- show us a prototype we could play with and comment on. The issues it has are near universal and would have been spotted a mile off.

Less iconography would be a good start

It's not that it's different from mine, though it is, it's just that I felt the point you were making was a silly one. David Braben apologised for the bad experience but not the "cause" of the bad experience wasn't it? I'm sorry but when I read that it reminded me of arguments I had long, long ago with my brother at the dinner table. But perhaps it's just me.....
Acknowledging the fact they messed up would go a long way IMO.

Stuck in taxi is game breaking, for starters. And I listed four specific issues as examples.

The insulting part is the corporatese "we hear your complaints. you are very important. we do better." Not too much because of the message, but because it's been repeated - without even adjusting it to respond to why people are upset a single time - time and time again.

I acknowledge that I am upset, and likely to make unkind and even sometimes inaccurate interpretations. That does not mean I don't have a point.

The taxi bug is game braking, but its not the bug you mentioned before.

AS for the corporate phrasing, I understand your feeling. But in this kind of context, what exactly can they say?

What would you have them say?

this roadmap promising multi-gig patches to chip away at performance and gameplay issues EVERY WEEK for AT LEAST 3 weeks...and people are actually complaining because they were not furnished ahead-of-time with 3 separate itemized lists is frankly the most tragic thing about this thread.

I think it’s more tragic that they sold a piece of trash to loyal, paying customers under false pretenses.

I have personally no quells with the new UI.

There are some info that is missing, but that is about it. Easily fixable.

When it comes to its ergonomics, I mastered it pretty easily. Takes a bit of getting used to, but that is all.

I may not have 20 years of experience in the area, but for someone that have, you act like someone that don't.
Meaningless diatribe. Please do not attempt to lecture me on something that I am infinitely more qualified on than you are.

The 'roadmap' we received today was derisory, it showed a complete lack of effort to the point of contempt. In any professional relationship it would have meant a termination of contract for me, with potential legal proceedings following, had it occurred in a B2B environment. Having seen similar situations in the past, it looks as if they are currently overwhelmed to an level that is unlikely to have a happy resolution, for whatever reason, although it does appear to be a resource issue of some kind superficially. And no, Covid is not an excuse, as there have been plenty of software companies more than capable of functioning during this period. No level of apologetics is going to change that.

It a matter if the majority like it- even knocking up a fake menu would show workflow, whats missing, whats good. Right now FD have to redesign as they go which is going to waste a huge amount of time they could have saved at the start.
