Game Discussions Star Citizen Discussion Thread v12

Anyone else find the faux "in-lore" wording of these updates more than a little cringe worthy?

Thanks to the work of dedicated field agents and operatives <..>
<..> Pure all records after reading.

Like.. wut? You send an update on a game's development and pretend to do it in lore? Isn't that both douchy and doubly confusing? What are you trying to do here?

Sales getting a little low bruh.

Time for another ship sale 😅

@Dementropy : nice story.
Mainwhile, a lot of backers already enjoy the alpha as it is 😁 and enjoy it more and more at each patch 😉

I really hope you are not just talking about your personal perception. Do you have any actual updated figures as of late? Asking because the player figures given by CR this past December were actually surprisingly low in absolute terms, and especially when compared to Elite or EVE etc for example, both in terms of actual backers and concurrency.

But if you can back up your statement with actual figures, and not just your biased feeling, I am all ears.

Applies to arguments over videogames in general. Take BioWare's Anthem, they dropped the ball on all things BioWare and went full live service to make an arguably fun yet dead game.. Sure you had your money's worth of fun, but that's not the point from the naysayers' (I daresay consumers') perspective :)

Why would that correlate? Guys here who expect the game to 'burst into flames' are normally thinking about continued technical dysfunction, and/or collapse due to managerial ineptitude. Players could have all the fun they want during that, but it wouldn’t change it ;)

Nah, not buying the "I'm having fun" argument. Sounds like Stockholm Syndrome and sunk cost fallacy to me. The game is literally collecting ships. That only exist while game continues to be funded. Catch-22.

Nah, there is something to play there amidst all the bugs and dodgy physics...you can't use the sunk cost fallacy argument for everyone that plays on a regular basis...and there are quite a few of us that gain some enjoyment out of Star Citizen as players. :)

You say that because you're a QuantarMiner and you have your minigame done and almost working, although one could say you dont get much out of it in the end (since there is no economy around it yet)..

Sure, very small minority. Is it "fun" objectively or fun because you play with friends and like mining which happens to be the only thing that actually works? Hard to say :D

I had fun playing that Russian RPG whose name I can't remember. At the time. Do I think it was worth the $ hundreds ended up putting in it, with hindsight? Lol, no.

What percentage of players would say Star Citizen is fun today if Chris Roberts declared the PU today is final and nothing else will be added?
That's too easy...none :D

I enjoy the time I spend in there, but despite all the massive issues Star Citizen has rather than being able to experience it without those issues. Sometimes though, it's just not worth the bother clicking the button on the launcher. :)
